Spinoff to real Christmas trees

If you ever got one from Home Depot, are they all the same price no matter what size? I heard that was how it works there.

This year is the first year I am getting a real tree with DH after living together for 8 years. Chat Icon

I'm not sure, but IKEA works the same way. The trees are like $20, and you get a $20 gift card to spend in January so it's like getting a free tree! Chat Icon

ETA: YAY about the first real tree! What about chopping one down? It's such a fun tradition and the price is the same for any size.

Yep. Any size!

But it's a little bit like a feeding frenzy. They also have wreaths for $5!

From what I remember at HomeDepot - it's not the size they charge by, it's the type of tree.

Re: Spinoff to real Christmas trees

Ikea is $20 no matter what size the tree is...they are however, Douglas Firs so they can't really support ornaments.
And, like a PP said - it's a feeding frenzy.

Home Depot and Lowes charge by the size and the type of tree - anywhere from $20 to $100

If you want to buy a cut tree, the best bet is usually the guys who set up shop on a corner. They have the best prices and the widest selection of trees.

We go out east and cut the tree - actually we pick the tree and they cut it, ball it and load it. The place we go to is the Shamrock Christmas Tree farm.

ETA: Congrats on the real tree!!!Chat Icon

For us, Home Depot trees have outlasted those seasonal sellers every time. I've also found the seasonal sellers to have a smaller selection in my area.

Of course, the best trees we've gotten have been the ones we've cut down fresh! Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff to real Christmas trees

I've never bought a Home Depot/Lowe's tree...I always found them too $$$$$

But then again, that would be why they last longer.

ETA: I've read that the cut trees are cut a week or two before Thanksgiving and then shipped all over. Which would explain the shortened life span.
