I did a gender reveal and it was awesome! But I never intended to be Team Green.

Re: Team Green Moms
Just crashing, but I was team green for both pregnancies. Once you get past half way point it's not as bad. Plus, it was such a surprise to everyone (including myself) to hear then say... it's a boy!
I have two boys now.
I loved people guessing too. Plus, I never said what names we were going to give.

i was a team green mom with my first and am trying to be again with my second the beginning is the toughest part - and having the envelope is even harder! i would rip it up and toss is bc you will be tempted if its around.
being team green was fun bc you have everyone guessing (granted some of the guesses you dont want to hear - you must have a girl bc your butt got so big or your face changed etc) but its still fun. hearing the doctor make the announcement was the best - and dh being able to go to the waiting room and share that with our family/friends was even better.
in terms of preparing - it can be tough to be gender neutral but its also a money saver. we have green bedding which was can now use with #2. if we knew she was a girl and this one happens to be a boy - that would be another bedding set to purchase. we also have a lot of gender neutral sleep n plays for 0-3 month size which again we can reuse. gender neutral stroller, car seat etc
its one of the few surprises left in life - and its a great one. worth the 9 month wait

Re: Team Green Moms
It was never a question that we would be team green and surprisingly I haven't really been that curious at all and I'm due in 8 weeks. I think because I never wavered and thought I should find out, or had an envelope with the gender in it, it hasn't been hard at all to wait. I also think it will be a great moment to find out at birth and then have DH make the big announcement to everyone.
If you really want to stay team green, burn that envelope
Eta I haven't found it hard to prepare at all. I tend to not like very gender specific decor or baby clothes so I'm happy to have lots of gray, green, white and yellow.

I was team green and for me I would not do it any other way. I loved hearing everyone's guess whether it was a boy or girl. It was frustrating having to come up with a boy name and a girl name but hey at least we have a girl name already picked for our next!
It was fun because in the room while I was laboring the doctors and nurses were all guessing and getting into it also. It made the pushing a little easier since I was so focused at trying to get the little one out so I can find out!

Re: Team Green Moms
We are team green and it has been great! I feel that there are lots of surprises in life...some good, some bad, and not many great ones- this is a great one and i really am enjoying wondering if it's a boy or girl and of course hearing everyone's guesses. I cannot wait for that moment in the delivery room to hear what our little peanut is! It also has prevented me from going crazy buying clothes because gender neutral clothes are tough...but after baby, forget it...i am sure i will be online ordering boxes of stuff :) I have had such a positive experience being team green and most people get really excited when I tell them i don't know the sex. I would say burn that envelope and enjoy the journey of being surprised

I would never find out. It's so exciting not knowing. The pregnancy is more exciting, labor and delivery will be more exciting. The most beautiful words I ever heard were, "hello, hamdsome!", which my dr said at delivery.

Re: Team Green Moms
I am a brand new mom coming off of being team green and it was an amazing experience. labor was really hard and hearing the nurse say "dad, tell mom the gender of the baby!" and then hearing my DH say "oh my god it's a boy!" after he came out... it was so amazing. The beginning is def hard (we were so curious!) but towards the end there's just an excitement about finally finding out.

We were team green for ds and we are doing it again this time. I feel like finding out now would take away from that moment when he/she is born (for me personally). I'm old fashioned though & know most people seem to find out these days. No wrong or right!
We have all genter neutral stuff and are prepared either way, so no need for us to know now anyway! The only thing that will be different based ongender is the furniture, but my DH is making it & the baby will be in our room first few months anyway, so the stain can wait.

Re: Team Green Moms
I'm team green and I think it's fun. It's tempting when you know you CAN find out. I'd rip up the envelope! I remind myself of how fun it is to keep guessing (and to keep hearing everyone's guesses) in the months to come. I also think it will be amazing to hear the news when we're in the delivery room. It is hard when you register because there are a lot of things that are gender specific, but I figure it's more practial to buy things that are good for either gender.

Re: Team Green Moms
This is my second time being team green. Sure, I'm curious but I'm not dying to know. I loved that moment in the delivery room and can't wait to do it again. My other reason is that I enjoy the whole coming up with name things. If it's a boy, we know his name (family name), so I feel like a bit of the fun would be over. Odd reason, I know, but it's how I felt with my first pregnancy and how I feel again.

Re: Team Green Moms
I have a few things keeping me team green!
1. I am not super girly-girl or into the sports boy stuff, so I am looking forward to getting more plain stuff that I can use for either. I wouldn't be dressing my girl in all pink or my boy in all football/baseball stuff, so this actually gets me some clothes that are my taste without having to say anything.
2. I am into saving as much money as possible, and this is my first baby, so I want to be able to use everything for another baby.
3. I love the guessing! Its so funny to hear people's silly rationales.

Re: Team Green Moms
Crashing...I found out the gender with my twins and stayed team green for my third. It was amazing! So fun having people guess. I was pregnant with a good friend and she found out and it just made it all the more exciting not to know.
Then end is tough I am not going to lie but totally worth it!

Re: Team Green Moms
We have been team green with both pregnancies. With DC1 is was definitely hard to keep from finding out, but once I got past the 20 week sono a lot of the temptation was gone. Originally we said we would only be team green for the first pregnancy, but it was so exciting to find out at the end that we would never do it another way now. Not to mention it's a lot of fun having people guess.
For some reason, with this pregnancy I haven't been the slightest bit curious. I'm 2 weeks away, and I'm almost a little bit sad that the secret will soon be out.

Re: Team Green Moms
I wanted to be team green for both my pregnancies but since I had a rough first pregnancy and my son was possibly going to have surgery as soon as he was born I found out. My second pregnancy we knew right away that we did not want to find out. It was the BEST experience!!! Everyone thought it was a girl, some people thought it was a boy and we were convinced it was a boy too. My DH and I were stunned when the doctor announced it was a girl. He video taped telling my parents and his mom after I had her and what a reaction from my mom. It was honestly the best choice I ever made. If we have a third we will be team green again. It was not hard since we both knew we did not want to know.

How would you know it's more exciting?
I found out, and you're right, my pregnancy was dull, and the delivery was so boring I yawned as I pushed her out.........

I give all of you team green ladies a lot if credit- I could NEVER wait to find out. As for the poster that said it was more exciting to wait- How would you know? DH and I found out the gender at 18 weeks and we were both teary and excited. It has been very exciting picking out things for our daughter together. I do not think the birth of my daughter will be any less amazing because I know her gender.

Re: Team Green Moms
I was team green with my first, and it was so exciting to have everyone waiting on edge to hear the news.. IT also helped me get through labor bc I was excited to hear... This time around we know.. and it kind of seems anti climactic to me. I would def suggest team green..

I found out with my first, but I want to try team green for the second. It's only 9 months of not knowing! I really want to see both ways. I feel like it will be really exciting to find out right after I give birth.

For my first, I really just wanted to be surprised, there was nothing that was pulling me to find out. For this baby, we know that I will have to have a c-section, so the date of birth will be predetermined and I feel like the gender is the only surprise we will have. We are moving my DD into a big girl room and giving baby the neutral nursery, so there is no real "planning" need to find out anyway. I like the surprise!
