Airing out a mattress
If you bought a new mattress, how long do you let it air out before sleeping on it? I've left the window in the room open for a few hours and had the door closed all day. Should I wait 24 hours or perhaps 48 hours for the chemical smell to go away? What do you do?

Airing out a mattress
I never had an issue with a new mattress ever having an odor.

Re: Airing out a mattress
It has that "new car" smell. I am very sensitive to smells. And have a strong sense.. It's a very luxurious mattress. After tons of research, I ended up going with an American made Aireloom vitagenic plush streamline by the Hotel Collection which is made by Kluft.
I guess 24 hours is fine.

Airing out a mattress
We just left the windows open and ceiling fan on for the entire day and it aired out enough. Only smelled it a little bit on the first night.

Re: Airing out a mattress
I have a Bobopedic and had this issue. They delivered it in the morning, I kept the windows open all day and we slept on it that night.

Re: Airing out a mattress
The reason for the strong smell is the foam. Mine is encased in foam so that is the reason it smells initially of chemicals.
Which I was trying to avoid, but this was the most comfortable bed to me...
