Can anyone tell me how to go about getting a parent advocate
This is not for me. My son did have a sorta of services when he was young and when I started the eval procceaa my Ped gave me a number of a parent advocate and it was free. Now my friend is trying to get her 3.5 year old evaluated and its turning out to be a big run a round and she asked me to look into a parent advocate. . Do tbey charge? I didn't pay a penny. TIA

I believe there are some #s posted on the thread below about bringing a lawyer to a meeting.
What are some of the issues?
If she is trying to get her child evaluated mid-year especially that can be a process.
I know DS was approved for a OT eval mid year and it took a month + to find an agency that had availability.
I contacted the school and asked them to help me find an agency which they did.

I contacted the LIAC and the fee at the time was $150 for the meeting with the school and I think $50 for every half hour of prep time for the meeting.

Every advocate and lawyer I know, receives a payment. What issues is she having with getting the evals? By law they have to give you an evaluation if you send in/contact the correct people. Whether or not she gets services is another story. If she is 3.5 she should be working with her school district.
