If anyone has made these, what sauce do you serve it with?

the frozen ones? If so, I have used them in the slow cooker w/ a bottle of heinz chili sauce, and a can of jellied cranberry. Cook for 3.5-4 hrs on high. I serve them as hor dourves.

Thanks!

I haven't used the slow cooker in years, but have it here. What is the difference of using the slow cooker, and just microwaving them and then adding them to the sauce heated on the stovetop? I see on the chili sauce bottle they have the recipe for both ways

I do this recipe, but I usually use grape jelly instead of cranberry sauce.

I have done it both ways -- stove top and slow cooker. To me, the slow cooker is easier. Literally dumping the ingredients, including the frozen meatballs, into the slow cooker. Less steps involved, and it's low maintenance since the slow cooker does its thing (no standing at the stove, stirring). I also think the sauce comes together better in the slow cooker and it's easier to get the meatballs coated. And you don't have to time it so precisely... if the meatballs stay longer in the crockpot, because you are not ready to serve them, so be it, and the crockpot will keep them warm if you put them out in batches.

Im just worried the meatballs will come out mushy in the crockpot. I haven't used a crockpot in years so I don't know.

I make the sweet and sour meatballs too. Since they are already cooked, I just put the crockpot on warm if I am going to be out all day.

That way they don't burn/overcook.

If I'm home I put them on low for 4 hours.

They taste more authentic this way then doing them quickly in the microwave.

I make them all the time in the crockpot. I put it on low... they are usually done in like 3 hours, but I've let them go for 4-5 hours or so. They are never mushy and don't fall apart. I think the premade, frozen meatballs are firm and hold their shape much better than if I used homemade.

Thanks so much! I am going to throw it all in the crock pot. Seems the easiest.
