Huntington Hospital Vs. St. Catherine's
Help!!
I went to my first OB appt and found out my doc isn't doing deliveries anymore. He is really old and close to retiring. I am OK with that. He delivered out of HUntington Hospital and I loved it there!! I has DS there, I was born there... it was our hospital. My doc is bringing in a new doctor to do his OB patients his name is Dr. O'connell and he only delivers at St. Catherines.
I told my doc that I wanted to stay at huntington, are there any doctors he could recommend.. he said Dr. Wagner and Dr. Goldstein ( I think) I don't know anything about any of these doctors and I know nothing about St. Catherines.
SO I am just asking if anyone has any epxeriences with these doctors/hospital. My OB said Hintington isn't the same anymore since LIJ bought them. But I felt comfortable there. I am having a c-section so I will be at the hospital for a while. I am just confused. I need to decide soon!
Please help!

I delieverd at huntington hospital since lij takeover and it was a great experience.
I never went to see wagner or goldstein but did see dr morris when she was still with the group. I know a lot of people liked them and was very happy with them. I just couldnt deal with the wait when seeing the drs.
My dr is in northshore medical group in huntington. She did my c/s back in 10 and I am very happy with the group.
I dont know anything about st catherines so i wouldnt be able to help you with the vs part.

Huntington Hospital Vs. St. Catherine's
I don't know about the specific doctors, but my Dr delivers out of either St Catherine's or Southside and when I asked which she preferred she said Southside and that when her contract is done with St. Catherine's they couldn't pay her to renew it- that's how much she dislikes the hospital. So if you're comfortable with Huntington then I wouldn't switch. This is just one doctors opinion but she seemed very against them and told me that I'd get much better care in a hospital run by LIJ.

I just found out my peditrician does not have rights at St. Catherine's and now I am worried about insurance.

He recommended wagner and goldMAN. They are in practice together. I m on pregnancy #3 with Both of them. I delivered at huntington with them both times. I had a great experience at huntington with both labor and delivery and maternity. I am pregnant again with twins and wagner and goldman are taking good care of me yet again.

Huntington Hospital Vs. St. Catherine's
I delivered my DS at Huntington with Dr Wagner. I love Dr Wagner. I am currently pregnant again and will deliver with Dr Wagner again. Both C-sections.

He is a friend of mine-- he just started at St. Catherine's this fall. He loves his job and seems to always put his patients first...even on his days off!

I go to Northshore Medical Group and deliver at Huntington, but I know quite a few people who go to Wagner/Goldman and they're all very happy with them.

oops!! thank you for clarifying.... where is their office located???
they have two offices. One on Pulaski Road in East Northport (corner of Larkfield and Pulaski) and one in Huntington on 25A.
I always use the E. Northport office - this is the one with evening hours if you need those. Also, E. Northport office does the sonograms (although never had a sono. at the Huntington office, don't know if they do them there or not).

I delivered both my sons via c/s at St Catherines. Had great experiences both times. the last time 2011, the food wasnt that good (I remember liking it much more in 2007) but the nursing staff in the Mat Ward were wonderful both times we were there.
I would have no hesitation at delivering there again.

I did not have a good experience at St. Catherine's. I was there before they re did the maternity ward. I hated sharing a room more then anything, but I really disliked nurses.
I delivered at Stony Brook with next pregnancy and had a wonderful experience.
My sister delivered her last two kids at Huntington hospital. The youngest is 7 so we are talking quite a few years ago now but she loved that hospital. She had such a great experience both times.

Both my cousins delivered at St Catherine's and loved them there. I know a NICU nurse/ lactation consultant there as well. Don't know your dr but they all love that hospital. Good luck!
