Gift hits and misses for the big kids
DS is loving his WiiU and he actually jumped up and down when he saw his new bike from Nana and Grandpa The I home headphones that I debated about are actually decent, even clothes got a good reaction this year.

Gift hits and misses for the big kids
I got my nephews tix to see Newsies in Feb. I was worried that they wouldn't be excited to open an envelope and "just" get tix for something so far away, but they were really excited and mentioned a few times how much they were looking forward to it!

That's awesome! I want to take my 2 boys to see a show, but I'm not sure they will appreciate it, and it will be a very expensive mistake if they don't.

What a fantastic gift and I am so glad for you that they had such a positive reaction to your gifts.

Re: Gift hits and misses for the big kids
My kids have had their hanukkah presents for a month now, so they have had ample play time. The hits: Disney Infinity and the Cars set (big hit for both kids) Monopoly Chutes and Ladders My little pony (the set that come with the book) huge huge hit for DD Lego Carousel (big hit) Transformers for DS A rock kit where you use a hammer to "dig" for rocks (one off use, but a lot of fun, and the kids really loved it) AG doll accessories (DD is really getting into her AG dolls. She likes to play tea party with them, and put them to bed. She really loves these dolls. They are her babies.) Books (a big hit for DD - I have read them with her almost every day) Number bots (big hit for DS) Hess Truck and loader(both kids love them).
Not such a hit Goldiblox (used a lot when we first gave it, but not as much now. I may bring this one back out later - when DD is older) Disney Princess Dolls (I think DD prefers smaller hand held size dolls and the larger AG dolls, these are just getting placed into the princess/barbie bin and not played with so much).
Over all I feel that my son loved everything he received, but he was really specific with what he wanted so we were able to give him exactly what he asked for.

Re: Gift hits and misses for the big kids
DS had most things for a while because of Hanukah. The one that gets the most play is the Imaginext action city and the pieces that go along with it! He loves his rescue things. Zoomer was a big waste and only stays charged for 1 hour or so . Also I am really disappointed with the crayola airbrush marker kit. We tried getting it to work for 1/2 hour yesterday and again today! Its a piece of garbage!

Gift hits and misses for the big kids
My son (12) teared up whenhe opened his Nexus google.tablet. he was so thankful & told me repeatedly how he cant believe he got one...best gift overall. (He worked hard for it & is a good respectful kid) My 6 yr old was given an easel & she loves it..drawing now for 2 days.

DDs best gift was the Nintendo 3DS..she really likes her Kindle Fire too but not as much as the 3DS. The only other gifts Santa brought her besides accessories to go with the above was some barbies which she was not too interested in.

Oh really? So far Zoomer is a HUGE hit at our house and is getting constant attention from the kids.
Next most played with - new play kitchen, Disney Infinity and Skylanders Swap Force.

Angry Birds Jenga.
DS hasn't been home enough to play with everything yet.

Biggest miss here was the Furby Boom with my 9 yr old DD. She is freaked out by it.
Biggest hits were Lego Friends and Lego Chima, air hogs atmospheres.

Lego city for wiiU has got to be my 6yos all time favorite game. We have had it for awhile and he still loves it. there are so many elements to it- it is a really good game.
For my dc, my 8yo was thrilled beyond belief with his beats headphones. He and 6yo also were very excited with swap force and Disney infinity characters. There is one my 6yo didn't get-gorilla drilla- but he got a gamestop gift card from sil so he can go buy it himself.
We are visiting my parents in verrmont, and the family gift from them was a foosball table. We have all had a blast playing tournaments all week. I didn't think I would enjoy it but I am playing as much as the kids!!
