There is no chance I let my child go outside today. It is way to cold.

for once we agree Chat Icon It is way too cold for my 2 yr old and lucky for me he isn't old enough to know that he should be out there yet--I think people with older kids will have trouble keeping them in

Probably not until tomorrow. We have friends coming over shortly to help shovel us out (it's just me adn the kids today) Maybe my older DS and my friends DD will go out for a few but, it's too cold for my little guy.

This.

Wind chills could be 20-30 below. That's just dangerous! No way! The snow will still be there tomorrow.

We went out for about a half hour, it is really cold out, but they were really bundled and of course didn't want to come in but I made them come in

Yep, DD is 5 and as soon as she got up she was itching to get out. Chat Icon She lasted about 20 minutes and then she was ready to come in. It's freezing out but if you're bundled enough it's ok. She looked like the kid in a Xmas Story by the time she got outside. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Way too cold for me to bring my 2 year old outside today, it feels like -10 to -20 and I read you can get frostbite in 15 minutes. DH shoveled our driveway and his face was all red when he came in. I asked DH to put a bunch of snow in a big plastic bin and we let DS play with it in our kitchen. We will take him out tomorrow when it's warmer

DS is 5 and has been out twice already. LOL! I am not taking him sledding though, which is really what he wants!

DD was out and had a blast despite the fact that she was so bundled she could hardly move. I was out for 5-10 minutes in just fleece pants and fleece coat to take pics and I was fine. I just dragged her in and while her cheeks were red and cold I was glad to feel that her fingers, toes, ears were toasty warm. Nothing stops this girl from enjoying her swing! She was out 20-30 minutes maybe.

I had to go out earlier so my 2 yo DS came with me. We were bundled up very good (I used all of our ski gear) and it wasn't bad at all. He didn't want to come in but I was cold.

We went out and only lasted about 5 minutes. Just took some pictures and that was it. It is so bitterly cold.

The sun is shining bright in my front yard right now, so we are getting ready to go out. I figure 15 minutes max, just for the experience, and then we will come in and drink hot cocoa to warm up! Lots of layers and aquaphor on our lips/cheeks! We're not gonna freeze to death!

My DH shoveled at about 10am, and then went and I did my moms house a few blocks away.

I agree. The wind chill is -5.

They are encouraging people to be extremely careful and ration time outside. Wind chills below 0 can cause frostbite and hypothermia in only 15 minutes. That's not a very long time at all. These temperatures are no joke.

I'm definitely not bringing dd out in this. It's not going to melt. Hopefully I'll be able to bring her outside tomorrow. I'm just not taking any chances. It's way too cold.
