Sleeping Arrangements
Where do you plan to have the baby sleep those first few weeks/months? I registered for a mini co-sleeper to keep next to my bed in the master bedroom, but now I'm wondering if I should just get a rock n play instead? Please share what you're doing. I feel a little lost.
I should add that I plan to bf, so I want to make that sleep arrangement as easy as possible.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
Im personally not comfortable with co-sleeping, not that I oppose it, just not for me. I did have a bassinet that I kept right next to my bed so I didn't have to get up for feedings.

Sleeping Arrangements
I have a porta crib set up in my bedroom for the first few months. I have a big dog and I did not feel comfortable with the co-sleeper or rock and play since my spoiled pooch sleeps in my bed.

Sleeping Arrangements
Both our boys slept in their own room in the crib from the very beginning. I BFed and it was no issue to walk across the hall to their room for night feedings. I actually felt it gave the chance to wake up a bit, so I didn't have to worry about falling asleep with them by accident. We will do the same with this baby. I also feel it is one less transition to deal with later on.

I had a clearvue mini co-sleepeer, but I kept the side up and used it as a bassinet. I bought a nice mattress for it from ecobaby.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
We plan on using the bassinet at first and then transitioning to the crib. Part of me want to use start with the crib right away and see how it goes though...

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
Bassinet in our room. I bf both of my other kids and they also slept in the bassinet in our room. I always took them out to our living room to bf so I wouldn't wake up my dh.

I plan to have the baby sleep in a cradle next to our bed for the first few months. I will also register for the rock n play and use it if the baby doesn't sleep well in the cradle.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
DD was in the rock n play next to my bed and it will likely be the same this time around with DS. I really liked the rock n play because it was a good height for next to our bed.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
The baby will sleep in a bassinet right next to my side of the bed. My Dd slept the same until 6 months. She was EBF, and this was best for us. We have a bassinet with a mesh side window so I can see in and see the baby sleeping.
The co-sleeper looks great and i wanted one, but we have a platform bed, and it's not high enough to connect the co-sleeper to it. This would be ideal for me though. The baby is not actually in your bed, but in his/her own safe space connected to your bed.
I'm not comfortable with having my LO sleep on the rock and play bc it doesn't look sturdy enough and I remember reading that it wasn't great for the baby bc it caused flat head. (This was 3 years ago, so maybe that has changed). Now they have mold issues, though. It's just not for me.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
DD slept in the pack & play in our bedroom until she was 3 months old. We didn't want her to get used to sleeping on an incline (Rock 'n play) and end up having trouble transitioning her to her crib.
ETA: We plan to do the same this time around.

We will be using a bassinet. She may be in there for a while since we hope to be in a hose by the end of summer. We shall see

I didn't even think of this! I better measure my bed.

Since our bed is platform, we don't have a box spring, just a mattress, that was where the problem came in.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
We used the Arms Reach mini co-sleeper with DC#1 and will use it with this baby. Although you are co-sleeping the baby has his or her own space right next to your bed. It worked really well for us and I loved being able to lean over and see the baby.

We have a high bed, but I got the extention legs for $20 something. It brought it up to my bed height, and was perfect especially if you plan on breastfeeding. I tried the rock and play too, but because of my bed height, it was just too low.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
My ds sleeps in rock n play. He is 4 1/2 weeks n is sleeping 5 hours straight. At times for a nap we use bassinet n when we transition him to crib we plan on putting mattress on an incline.

Our plan is to have her in the RnP next to the bed for the first few weeks and then to move her into her room and into her crib.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
I did the RNP for the first 6 weeks in our room. I noticed that DS would wake frequently, even for naps, and wasn't hungry or wet. One night we decided to put him in the nursery and he started sleeping totally through the night, with maybe one feeding some nights.
At 4 months, we swaddle and alternate between the crib and RNP - he wakes a little more in the crib, we're not totally transitioned yet but we all get a great night of sleep.

Re: Sleeping Arrangements
I registered for a pack & play and a rock & play. I'll play it by ear to see which one the baby likes more before transitioning to the crib.
