Has anyone considered egg donors?
Just curious. I've been reading up on different options in case my eggs continue to get worse. DH and I mentioned adoption but are considering egg donation first. My body is extremely healthy and can get pregnant.. but continue to have losses due to my eggs being fried. I hear so many women having beautiful children through egg donors and for us, it will give DH a chance at a child of his own blood. I know we are still early in the game but wondering if anyone else is considering it an option.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
How awesome! My sister is a nutcase so I am avoiding that route but aweeee how exciting. We are giving it serious consideration if the next group of embryos don't make it again.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
Lol. I'm still nervous about doing this. My sister is younger and has never been pregnant. I'm terrified for both of our sakes that she has the Same issue but the doctor says it's not likely.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
My sister is older and has three successful pregnancies so I agree.. It's not always the same condition. She doesn't have endo, while me had my Grandma have it so the genetic issues can skip. Good luck!! You have 9 frozen right? You totally still have a chance!

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
We have discussed it and would be open if our current plan doesn't work. I haven't looked into it completely but it is in the back of our minds :)

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
I have been afraid to try the ivf route bc im worried they will push me to use donor eggs but the more and more i think about it....its really like adoption that started much earlier and i would def adopt....but the cost is so overwhelming on top of the ivf.....it's like another 20,000 right? does anyone know how this works as far as how many eggs you get?

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
Babyfever24 that is so awesome.
Lillies - it's one of the things we have discussed, but it's always come back to us not being sure about it. I hear ya about the eggs being old, I'm in the same position. We don't however don't have that much time, I"m going to be 40 this year. I was discussing this with a friend yesterday, and the feeling seems to be the same. It's a whole new world to venture into. It's something we have to make a decision about within the next few months.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
Just a story....
A woman I used to work with did 5 Ivfs. One resulted in pregnancy but mc at 13 weeks. After the 5th the dr said you will never get preg and carry full term with your own eggs. They did a 6th Ivf with do or eggs and has twins.
Low and behold about 6 months later after her twins were born she got preg, naturally, with her own egg and carried full term.
I will add that she was late 30s when she started tying and prob 40 when she finally has her kids.
You really never know.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
We were seriously considering it this cycle, and we asked my RE about it. In addition to the usual IVF costs, the donor egg process is an additional OOP expensive of $10,000-+$20,000 :-O We just couldn't swing that.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
Yes, its $$!!! Omg!! From what I was told, you get all of the embies from the cycle and they are considered your biological children legally so you can have siblings and all. We are still torn but always said we would adopt if we can't have kids and at least DE will give DH a biological child. The way they worded it was that even though the kids will have a different genetic footprint, your body will be growing and infusing the baby with your blood and cells. I'm still saying in my head... how will I explain this to him/her when they grow up though? I'm just praying we get something to work for us.

Has anyone considered egg donors?
My sister is older than me and has 2 beautiful kids and she is so upset that she can not do these for me she had to have a hysertorcomy because she was bleeding all the time and had fibrods. We are going to do iui if that does not i am not sure what we are going to do because ivf is so much money and my ins does not pay for it.

Re: Has anyone considered egg donors?
Bc ins doesn't cover the visits, monitoring, or retrieval of the donor. Plus there's some sort of compensation they get too. From what was explained to me they coordinate with a donor to do a medicated cycle with a retrieval then they fertilize them. I was shocked when we discussed the expenses of it :(

I believe it's the cost of Ivf plus the donors fee. Which depends on the donor.
