Which would you pick for christening entrees?
We are having my son's christening at Bistro 25 in Sayville. Guests can choose between 3 entrees. We know we will do the slliced hanger steak au jus. For the chicken and fish entrees, these are our options with my thoughts on each... *Chicken Cordon Bleu served with gruyere cheese and black forest ham (seems the most exotic and interesting to me) *Chicken Marsala (can be had at so many restaurants on Long Island) *Roasted French Breast of Chicken with pan gravy (boring???)
Seafood Seared Salmon with lemon and dill (boring???) Herb Crusted Shrimp with citrus beurre blanc(sounds yummy) Tilapia Picatta withcapers and artichoke hearts (sounds yummy)
What would you choose and why? Thanks for your help.

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I'd say chicken cordon bleu because I never make it although I'm sure the pan gravy one is probably good. And then I'd pick the salmon or tilapia just because I love both and am allergic to shrimp lol. Can't go wrong with any of them

Honestly, they all sound delicious to me! I think the best bet would be to think about your guests and what they would prefer.
When I'm having a big party I tend to pick the more 'boring' dishes because I think they are more crowd-pleasing. That being said, I'd probably go with the chicken marsala and tilapia piccata.

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would pick the roasted chicken as I don't eat ham or pork products.
I would also pick the shrimp entree bc I feel like it's more appealing to more people.

I would choose the roasted chicken and the shrimp. The roasted chicken will likely appeal to more guests- the cordon bleu could go wrong fairly easily if it is allowed to sit a bit before being served.

I'm a sucker for gravy so I'd go with the roasted chicken. It's definitely a safe option but I'm sure it would be delicious.
For seafood, I would be most likely to order the shrimp. I think it sounds yummy. If not, I would go with the salmon. Not my favorite fish but in my family there are a lot of salmon fans.

That place is great by the way- love the food there.
In terms of the menu, you want to try to appeal to the most people. Personally I don't eat cheeses like gruyere etc so that cordon bleu would NOT appeal to me at all. I'd go for the roasted chicken- because a lot of people also don't like mushrooms (marsala)
For seafood- salmon is something that some people, even seafood eaters, don't like so I'd avoid that as well. Either the shrimp or tilapia- both sound great.

I definitely agree with this.

Love Bistro 25! Great choice...I've never had a bad (or even so-so) meal there. You can't go wrong with any of your choices!
I'd choose the roasted chicken, will appeal to more people than other choices.
For fish, I'd go shrimp. I don't like salmon, so wouldn't put it on the menu because I'm selfish like that! Many of my friends don't eat tilapia due to concerns of where the fish was farmed.

Because it's for a party, I'd go with the roasted chicken & the shrimp.
The cordon bleu sounds good & I love Marsala, but I can see how others couldn't.
The tilapia sounds good, but I know many who don't like artichokes or capers. salmon I know is subjective too

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would pick the most boring chicken ( the roasted) because the people who only eat chicken are usually pretty picky. They may not eat cheese, ham, or mushrooms.
That was the theory I went with for my wedding.
The tilapia preparation sounds great, but tilapia is gross. (and I love most fish.)
I know many people like it though. I don't understand how it has become the go-to non-salmon fish. I guess I would go with the shrimp on that one. I love both, but I am not sure if more people like shrimp or salmon.

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would definitely do the shrimp out of the seafood options.
I feel like the sliced grilled steak au jus is pretty "plain" in a crowd pleasing way, so not sure I'd go super plain with the chicken.
I'd probably do the chicken marsala (although I think a chicken francaise or piccata would round out the menu well!).

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would go with the Tilapia....but I love anything with artichoke hearts...
For the chicken, I like Cord on Bleu, however, for the purpose of the masses, I might say Marsala....

Me too. I hate artichokes and so does most of my side of my family thus the shrimp (and yes I think the salmon is boring too). Chicken marsala because it is pretty basic so good for the masses but not too boring/plain. The 1st chicken is an acquired taste and will only appeal to a small group of people. The roast chicken is too plain and boring for my taste.

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would do the roasted chicken and salmon. I feel like they are lighter options.
Some people have shellfish allergies and not fish, so I feel like there is more room for cross contamination.

Re: Which would you pick for christening entrees?
I would avoid the chicken cordon bleu. I actually had that as the chicken option at DS's christening and it did not go over well. Few people chose it. I was one of the ones who did and I was not impressed.
I would go with the tilapia. The shrimp sounds good too, but shellfish allergies are so common that I would hesitate to make shrimp my fish choice.
