Dog not chewing food!
Hi, it's me again If its not obvious, I am a first time dog owner (hence the many questions). So Bruno is a hungry, hungry dog that inhales his food. He swallows it whole and doesn't chew it. The last 2 nights, this eating behavior has caused him to vomit (and up comes all his unchewed food!) I've read a bunch online about "bloat" and have seen some possible solutions.
1) Wet the dry kibble with warm water 2) Buy a special bowl that usually has an raised object inside that the dog has to "eat around" which slows them down and gives them time to chew
Anyone ever experience with this? Have you used #1 or #2? THANKS!

Re: Dog not chewing food!
Hi,
I have an italian mastiff and he swallows all of his food. I tried the special bowl with the life in the midlle and that didnt work for us.
I do wet the dry kebble and I have noticed some improvement.
Can it be that you are giving him a small size kebble?
Ohh and the fact that he thows up after, can it be that he plays with toys after? I usually have my dog rest for a little after eating to help him digest his food. Or maybe try changing the food. I give my dog welllness core for large breeds/

Re: Dog not chewing food!
I forget how old the dog is and how large the food bits are? My male does this at times. He can make himself gag or get sick occasionally. Not sure what to do about it!

Dog is a little over 1 year old and is a yellow lab/mastiff mix. After doing a bunch of research online, I found that labrador and golden retrievers are 2 of the most common breeds that binge eat their food and then vomit it up! He is eating adult sized dry food. If you google it, you'll find more than enough info on it -- perhaps we can solve this problem together

Re: Dog not chewing food!
Buy the special bowl. It's the best/easiest solution.
my rottie does this from time to time. We were about to get the bowl (recommended by my vet) when she stopped.
