Play places - fun craft, progressive gymnastics and little gym, bowling, pump it up, ice skating rinks (indoor and outdoor), abrakadoodle...etc..
Educational - planetarium, the sky dome at the cradle of aviation, the whaling museum sometimes has programs for kids, museum of natural history in the city, science museum sometimes has programs during breaks, and then all the usuals that can get mobbed...children's museum etc. I have heard the science museum gets crazy but, probably depends on when u go. we went to the museum of natural history last year during break and while it was busy, it wasn't as crowded as u describe - that said we went later in day...

I agree with going at opening or after 3 to LICM.
I took DS there yesterday with my sister and he was really upset because they had a bunch of bdays going on and his favorite rooms were closed off as a result. At 12:30 we were told we couldn't get in until after 2:30. Other than the party thing, it did not seem too busy.
DH took him to see the Lego movie this morning and said it was really good too.

Progressive has open play? Not taking two kids skating alone who can barely stand...
Cradle of aviation is already on our list we have a membership and have already seen all the IMAX there. I am holding off the natural history we have a membership and can go anytime. Planning to hit it spring break bc my mom is around so I will have a second adult with me if it is crowded.

See I live 5 mins away and have a membership so I try to avoid crazy times bc we can literally go anytime.
Everyone has given some great suggestions I think I have one thing a day to do. Need to get out everyday for all our sanity ...lol.

Oh really? What reviews? What do they say? I am actually going next weekend for the first time, but with 2 friends who have been before and said it was good!
I took DD there and honestly I wasn't impressed at all...at least not for kids in the 5 and up crowd. The cutest part was the little ride that happens before you enter. The actual place is not that big at all. They have a movie and one ride and a ball pit play area (think CEC). It was smaller than the size of most of the CECs I've been too. It was cute but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a trip there especially not for DCs above the age of 5.

Please do my kids are huge lego fans but I hate to spend 70+ if it is horrible, never mind doing the drive as well. Every time I hear one good I read 10 or hear 10 bad ones. I so want to take them though.

I've been to Legoland twice. It's ok, not great. You can probably kill 3-4 hours there at most.

If you are willing to do the drive - Billy Beez at the Palisades Center in Rockland is fun - it's a ton of slides.
The schools in Rockland are only off Monday, Tuesday and possibly Wednesday now because of snow so it may be emptier towards the end of the week.

I agree, billy Beez is awesome! My kids loved it. They played for about 2.5 hours, then we went and had lunch, then went back and played for another 1.5 hour. If yo go, try to park by Best Buy.
