Question about diagnosing GD
I have been having a hard time keeping down sweets my entire pregnancy. Ice cream, cookies, cake, etc. are not even a little appealing to me. But I do eat a lot of fruits and drink juices and have no problem keeping those things down. I wasn't surprised when the drink for my 1 hour test made me throw up.. I have to attempt it again in 2 weeks, mostly bc I was in no rush to go back. My coworkers (who are all very negative people) are telling me I definitely have GD bc sugars been making me sick anyways, and that I need to reschedule right away- meanwhile my ob didn't seem concerned at the wait. Does anyone diagnosed with GD have a history of getting sick from sugar prior? From what I've heard there are no symptoms, which is why we do this test in the first place. I don't know why I let these negative old ladies get to me- but I do!!

Question about diagnosing GD
Nope. I have major sweet tooth and never have a problem. I did the one hour with no problem. 3 hour was a little tougher b/c I was dealing with MS at the time, had a bad cold that made me cough which in turn made me nauseous on top of the MS, so I don't think the sugar had any affect on me. I still failed both.

Question about diagnosing GD
Um, your co workers are idiots...what they are saying makes absolutely no sense. Whether you can stomach sweets or not has nothing to do with you having GD. Youll be fine waiting a few weeks, if your Dr. is not concerned then you shouldnt be either.

I completely agree with them being idiots! They are such negative old ladies and they have an opinion on everything. I honestly try to avoid talking to them but I had come to work late because the test, so they started asking and then all their overwhelming opinions come in.

Re: Question about diagnosing GD
Have you thought about asking your doctor to just give you a blood test to detect whether you may have GD or not?
I expressed my reservations about drinking the sugary stuff and my Dr. just sent me to the lab instead. I got my results a few days later - no GD!
