pet sitter/walker for vacation
Hoping someone might have recommendations.
We are going away in August - currently planning on a two week road trip, give or take some days. We are considering using a pet sitter to come by the house and feed/walk/play with the dogs, etc. We normally take our dog to a boarding facility; but since we just recently adopted a 9 year old "old man" and are now a two dog family, we are not sure we are comfortable going that route. The old man requires some extra care that I just don't think he'd get in a boarding facility, no matter how open and "home-y" it is.
(By the way, adopting an old/older dog certainly has it's challenges, but it is the absolute BEST feeling ever. If anyone is considering it, I would definitely recommend it!!!  )
Anyway, just wanted to start contacting a few people and try to get an idea of what the fees would be like, how this works, what they do/don't do... that sort of thing. We've never gone this route before!!! Oh, we are near the Port Jeff Station area; I guess that's important info when making a suggestion, lol

Can you contact your vet office to ask for recommendations? I know that many vet techs do pet sitting/walking on the side for extra $$$! Good luck!

Thanks!
I did actually check with my vet and got nowhere... They were, surprisingly, not helpful at all. The receptionist actually seemed annoyed that I called with a "non-vet" issue.  I am working under the assumption that they were just busy that day and may ask again when we are actually there for a visit. Perhaps that will yield a different result.
But in the meantime, I will take a look at the suggested Facebook page... Thank you!
Any other recommendations would be welcome too!!!
