Re: What do you like.....
My kitchen SUCKS. I hate it. There is NOTHING redeeming about it. It's a 6x10 galley kitchen. I have ONE cabinet for my pots and pans. One.
Hate hate hate.

What do you like.....
In the middle of a gut/reno... it's been, um, stressful. What I disliked, the size, it was so tiny, there was NO counter space, there were NO cabinets, I think it was the original cabinets from 1952 and the rest hadn't been redone since 1967 (best guess). We knocked down the wall between the kitchen & dining room, we're putting in a peninsula between the two, to add counter space, cabinets and a little separation, we're updating everything and all new appliances. I can't wait for the finished product, I know I'm going to love it.

Re: What do you like.....
Likes: It's large and opens to family room Pot filler faucet at stove Double wall oven w/ warming drawer Microwave built in under countertop (at kid's height) Large island Large pantry (although it could be bigger) Butler's pantry with wine fridge and cabinets for glasses and drawers for tablecloths, etc. Large window in front of sink Two large drawers under cooktop for pots
Dislikes: Pantry is directly in front of island so every time I need something from the pantry I have to walk around the large island. I would've preferred the pantry off to the side.

Re: What do you like.....
Our kitchen was less than 6 months old before Sandy destroyed it... I LOVED LOVED LOVED our hot water spout. Immediate filtered hot water right next to the sink.
This time around, definitely getting a pot filler.
Also, found on Houzz.com one of those "appliance cabinets". It almost looks like a big bread box. It's a way to keep the appliances that you need on the counter e.g. toaster, keurig, mixer, but have them hidden and out of sight so that counter doesn't look cluttered.
Also- we purchased our cabinets from "Kabinet King" out in queens. Great prices.
GL and have fun!

What do you like.....
I'm not a fan of our current kitchen (bigger house now but smaller older kitchen) but the things I loved about our old kitchen were: Huge, deep sink Granite countertops Tile backsplash Lots of light - recessed lighting over counters, under cabinet lights and a center ceiling fixture Floor tiles were a pretty speckled beige/brown - easy to clean and dirt barely showed Pull out trash can Counter space Cherry cabinets

What do you like.....
We are nearly finished our Kitchen Reno. I hated our previous Kitchen. We had no counter space no cabinets. Now we have 2 lazy susans, lots of big deep drawers, Glass Cabinets also. We have an island which is not finished yet but it is what i wanted with enough space to seat 5 people. We have now built in trash and rcycle cans. Granite countertips. The list goes on and on. I am very excited for my new kitchen. We completly flipped the layout too which i am so happy about.

Re: What do you like.....
My kitchen definitely needs updating, but I like the following:
1) It's big - the cooking area and the eat in area are both a good size
2) It's sunny and bright - Lots of windows
3) I have a double wall oven (so handy for holidays, entertaining), and separate cooktop
4) We have a deck off the kitchen, so it's good flow for parties, bbq'ing, etc.
5) We have white cabinets (they are painted white, but I would stick with white or cream cabinets when I renovate)
I would like to upgrade everything -- stainless appliances, granite or higher end counter tops. I would also like to reconfigure it a bit to extend the counters. I could use more counter space.

Dislike:
Size (small), layout (relates to size) & function (relates to size & layout ). And don't get me started on the design (1980s laminate.)
I hate most of my kitchen--especially the 80s laminate cabinet doors.
I like that my sink is fairly big, and stainless steel--I find it easier to clean.
I like that I have one shelf in a low cabinet that pulls out for my pots.
And I like that I have an otherwise useless corner where my stand-mixer fits perfectly.

Re: What do you like.....
both my parents and inlaws regret getting side by side fridge. You lose so much space and they are hard to get stuff in and out of.
For me I would do lighting under the cabinets for sure. we just had it redone we changed the layOUT AND IT"S amazing now.
i would also would not get a GE microwave.
