Re: How old was your child when you started drop off play dates?
If it is a parent that I have gotten to know throughout the school year on playdates we have done outside of the home, and I am comfortable with them , then I will drop off.
When we are at a public place for a playdate I usually will pay attention to how attentive they are to their child, what their general rules are etc.
DD has 2 friends that I have no prob dropping off at their house. The parents rules and perspective on things are very similar to mine so I am comfortable with that

Re: How old was your child when you started drop off play dates?
I hate playdates. From preschool i have dealt with parents who wanted to take my kids to their homes. I was and still am uncomfortable with that. My oldest is in kindergarten and i have had passing comments about play dates but nothing followed through (Thank goodness). My daughter is very busy with her sports in the evenings and she doesn't get off a bus till after 4pm anyway. I think being on a later school schedule helps with play date avoidance. Lol. I'm sure there may be more push for play dates as they get older but hopefully sports and other activities will continue to stay in the way.

Re: How old was your child when you started drop off play dates?
we started this year with "new" friends, DS is in 1st grade, he just turned 6yo. It was a few months into the year so I had met the moms at parties and such and had talked to them. I made it a point to chat up the parents of the kids who DS seemed to talk about hte most after school so I could develop a friendship with those parents.
There are only 3 so far that DS has had drop off playdates with and 1 more just called today
