Re: 2 BOXERS need a new home!

I assume you'd want them adopted as a pair? I have friends who are planning to get a dog in a few weeks - and they might be interested in one...but not two Chat Icon .

you should have thought about them before you had the baby....

i hate when people just get rid of their animals like its no big deal.

sorry to be so harsh, just the way i feel.

Re: 2 BOXERS need a new home!

Why does someone always have to say something when someone is looking for a new home for one of their pets. Its hard enough to make that decision, but they shouldn't feel bad about it.

If you dont have something nice to say, dont say anything. It might not be what you do, but everyone is entitled to their decisions.

Unfortunately, I dont know anyone right now, but if I hear anything I'll let you know.

You can usually do courtesy posting with some shelters like Little Shelter and Petfinder. They will also help you learn how to interview to find them a safe, healthy home. You should also contact a boxer rescue for some help in placing the dogs.

Do YOU have children? No. So you're not one to speak. Let's see how well you deal with taking care of your dogs if you ever DO have children Chat Icon
At least she's trying to do the right thing by finding a better home for her dogs instead of not giving them the attention that she feels they need......

This is such a hard situation....I can kind of see both sides of the argument, I do however, think it is good that you are trying to find a good home for your dogs. Someone will definitely take them, boxers are GREAT dogs.....good luck Chat Icon

She just feels bad for the dogs.
She is just stating her opinion. No need to jump down her throat.

Can't we all just get along??

Re: 2 BOXERS need a new home!

I adore boxers and definitely plan on getting one someday, but we live in an apartment now and can't really have any dogs. Chat Icon There are several boxer rescue groups in the NY/CT area. I'm sure if you requested it, they could probably get the dogs adopted together. I hope everything works out. Chat Icon

nope i dont have children.... and i am waiting. and not for nothing, unlike SOME people i have thought about one day having children with my dogs. and unlike others, i know im alittle more extreme, but my dogs ARE my children and will be my babies' older siblings. simple as that. THEY GO NOWHERE. if i make the decision to have a baby with my dogs then i will own up to that respoinsibility. i will make sure everythign is accounted for. you MAKE time. and if you cant, then youre not ready to take on the extra repsonsibility imo. (whether it be baby or dog first)_

this is my opinion and im entitled to it. im sorry but pulling the "well you dont have kids" card isnt going to work.
the op didnt say the dogs attacked her baby or anything of the sorts... she said they were fine with the baby and she didnt have the time for them. imo she should have thought about this before either a)getting dogs or b)having a baby or c)deal with the responsability she has brought upon herself.

I agree with Anne. It is easy to pass judgement but you are not in that situation. If you were, your feelings may change, or they may not.... It must be a hard decision for her to make and right now she is trying to do what is best for her dogs.

I love animals also but would rather see the dogs go to another home where they get the attention they deserve than be neglected.

Re: 2 BOXERS need a new home!

if you read my previous post youll see my feelings on it.

im sorry, but i STILL think its taking the easy way out.

like i have said, if you take on that responsability..... it is just that, YOUR RESPONSABILITY!

imo pets are NOT desposable.
these dogs did NOTHING to her baby.

imo, if you get rid of these 2 dogs, you dont deserve to won another one again.
to me, its like if a mom has so many kids and then she gets rid of the first born to make room for the new oneChat Icon
unethical imo

Hindsignt is 20/20. Don't you think it's better in the long run that she find good homes for the dogs than keep them and not be able devote the time to them that they deserve? I think she's being responsible by recognizing that she can't give the dogs the proper attention and looking for a home where they will receive that care. I know you hate to see people give away their dogs, but I think it would be worse to keep them and neglect them.
