I think you can do something a little nicer. I wouldn't do black.

I'm not loving the skirt- the top is pretty, but the skirt is so crinkly.

I carry all my weight in my hips, thighs, and butt, too, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing! I like dresses to show off my assets! Chat Icon But if you're not comfortable with that, really anything with an empire waist or a-line skirt should do the trick.

There's these from Nordstrom:

I know many HATE the hi-low trend but I love it. I find it flattering and feminine and it's so in right now.

I am noticing a lot of dresses are jersey material, does that make it not as fancy(its a Saturday night) also is that going to make my hips look even ******...heres an example

Love that dress! I know what you mean about jersey material- a lot of people say it makes the dress less formal, which I guess it does... to a point. It never bothers me though and I find them much more comfy than more formal gowns. As for figure flattering- I think you just need to make sure it's not a figure hugging dress with jersey material- that's when I feel like it can hug your flaws and bring them out. I'd definitely try on in store.

I also checked Lord & Taylor's website and they had NOTHING, but I always have a lot of luck in store, so you might want to check them out! Good luck!

I don't care for either of these. I think they look kinda young and on the cheaper side. Especially don't like the back on the 2nd one.

Take pics of you in the dresses you try on and post 'em! You know these boards will give you God's honest opinions, for better or for worse! Chat Icon

But seriously, I think you should just go with whatever you FEEL good in, whatever makes you feel beautiful.

I DO agree that the last two dresses are a bit young looking. I like the first one better, but I'm 28 and I would never be bold enough to wear a dress with a sheer panel like that. I would feel like I looked like I was trying too hard and I know I wouldn't be comfortable. JMO!

I actually really like that particular hi-low gown. It flows nicely--some of them just look like you trip on your dress & ripped a few inches off. I think I also like it b/c it is strapless, so there is no additional craziness going on besides the hemline.

Oh come on .......you're kidding ..........
There's a reason God gave me boys.

I was just in Nordstrom last night buying a cocktail dress for a black tie business event that I have to attend tonight ........- They had BEAUTIFUL black (if that's what you have to wear) lace gowns. And not that cheap clingy lace crap - classic beautiful gowns - try Roosevelt Field - they have a huge selection. - Sexy & Age appropriate for a young Mom, but not trashy !!
