My sweet baby girl spent 2 nights in the hospital
She is home now and absolutely fine.
But we had a scary experience on Tuesday.
She went for her 4 month well visit and had to have 4 shots. so she got the shots and screamed her head off from the time the first shot was in, until well after the last shot was done.
Nothing out of the ordinary there, shots hurt.
However, she suddenly stopped screaming and wet white as a sheet. Normally she is a pink as a rose.
So the ped listened to her heart and that was finem but her color did not return for a good ten minutes.
god bless my ped for admitting her to the hospital. he literally drove with us in the car to Winthrop and sat in the back seat with her. She was fine the whole way over.
He wanted her to stay 24 hours for observation, but it ran into 2 night b/c we had to wait to see the cardiologist.
Poor thing saw so many doctors and was a champ the whole time.
She is sleeping now and I'm just glad she is home.
Thank God her ped trusted his instinct and said lets just admit her for observation. And she was fine the whole time in the hospital, but it was hard to deal with.

Sorry. Yes, she was fine after it happened. Her ped thought it was just a reaction to the shots. She got hypotensive and that is why she was so white.
He wanted her admitted on the off chance it was something other then a reaction to the shots. The pediatric cardiologist ordered a chest xray, ekg and a echocardiogram just to be safe.
She has a mild valve abnormality, but it had nothing to do with what happened at the peds office.
Thanks all!!

Re: My sweet baby girl spent 2 nights in the hospital
4 shots in 1 visit is too much for a 4 month old. But..who is your ped, he sounds like an awesome doctor
ETA- you can always ask for some shots to be held for the next viist, my ped will only give 2 at a time.

I am glad she is ok. I am sorry you had such a terrible experience.
To the question I quoted above, you do NOT have to give her shots according to the shot schedule. As a parent, you have the right to create your own schedule or modify the shot schedule. I only give DS 1 shot at a time. It is more ped. visits but it gives me piece of mind. I think doing multiple shots at once is an overload to their systems which could be what happened to the OP DD. But thankfully she is ok!
