Sneezing in cat (long)
I am curious if anyone has gone through something similar or has any opinions on this...
We adopted out cat Joel about 1.5 years ago, he is around 5-6 years old and a great cat. Around 6 months ago he started sneezing and it has progressively gotten more severe. Now he will sneeze quickly about 5-10 times in a row. This happens about 5-8 times a day. When he sneezes there is either no discharge or clear wet moisture, nothing notable at all and he is not in pain. He spends 90% of his time in the upstairs of our house, but we have seen him sneeze in all areas of the house.
Since this started his behavior is 100% normal, he eats, drinks, plays, sleeps, snuggles and is overall a great happy cat. I took him to the vet and he does not have a respiratory infection, both his sinus passages were open as he was breathing normally. I paid for blood work to be done and it came back normal. The vet also gave him a shot of antibiotics to help any possible (unseen) sinus infection. The vet recommended that we give him lysine treats, and while it has only been a week I don't see much change with the sneezing.
If you have read this far (thank you), I don't know what to do next. He is 100% fine aside from the sneezing. The vet says the next step is head xrays to rule dental issues and growth in the sinuses. I kinda feel like maybe this is just allergies and it is ok to wait it out.... Has anyone dealt with anything similar or has a cat who routinely sneezes?

My first thought was allergies, since everything else was ruled out.

Re: Sneezing in cat (long)
I don't have a lot to add, but my cats sneeze in new environments or from stress. Have you moved recently? Any new stress? Any new furniture additions? Any new anything to add new scents? The vet is probably suggesting Lysine because he//she may think your cat is a cat flu (cat herpes) carrier. Any runny eyes?
Has your cat lost any weight?
If the blood work is OK and eating is normal, I wouldn't really worry about it, but I'd maybe get a second opinion.

Thanks! I think I will get a second opinion. He has lost weight over the past year 17lbs to 14lbs, but he was very overweight from being with a rescue with limited activity for a year, so we expected weight loss since he is now very active. However his left eye is also runny which started with the sneezing...
