GHI and Meds- When does injects coverage run out?
I have GHI and 3 IVFs lifetime and 3 fills on injects lifetime. So I am doing IVF 3. After IVF 3 when I have to pay OOP for future IVFs will I still be able to use the remaining injects coverage? Technically I would still have IUI coverage so could I fill the injects as if I'm using them for IUI?
For example, If I have 1 more refill for Menopur will I be able to use it with IVF 4 or bc I am done with the IVF coverage the injects coverage gets taken away? Trying to figure if I should fill things I don't need in case I won't be able to ever fill them again.
Thanks ladies!

Refill everything before you finish this cycle. They won't question it and you'll have stims for what ever you do next.

I know but lets just say a miracle happens and IVF 3 works. Then the meds for a cycle or more would be gone- I mean I would donate them but I wouldn't have anymore fills left. Then down the line if I want to try for another child I wouldn't have any coverage.
I'm trying to figure out are the meds strictly for the allowed IVFs or can u fill 3 times regardless?
Thanks.

Refills don't count against your lifetime 3. When a new script is called in, that's when it counts against the lifetime max. Is that what you're asking?

No. I get 3 fills lifetime of any inject. I get that part.
My question is if I do my third IVF covered by GHI and it doesn't work and then have to pay OOP for IVF 4 will I still be able to get injects covered? Does paying OOP for IVF 4 stop you from having available injects coverage? I hope that makes sense. Thanks....trying to figure out what I should fill now bc I don't wanna lose injects coverage.

Ok, I think I understand your question. You'd still be covered for meds. As long as you still have med fills available, it doesn't matter if you used up your 3 fresh IVF cycles.

Oh okay good thats what I was hoping. I don't wanna order extra and have lots left over. I rather save them for a future LO if this works! Trying to be optimistic.

How many times have meds been called in vs when you've used refills? They only allow a certain amount of time for you to call in a refill. That's something to consider.

From what I understood its 3 fills lifetime refills or not. I ordered 12 boxes of Menopur and its almost gone. That was one fill. I have 2 refills on that but thats from my former RE so I don't think I can refill it. They may check. I don't know how that works. Anyone?
My new REs office won't order the max and will probably order half of that. So if I refill now I think I'll have 1 fill left. My RE is only having me use 1 vial of menopur a day so I could possibly get by with what I have left over. So I'm trying to decide if I should get another fill. If what your saying is I will still have 2 fills even if my next IVF isn't covered then maybe I shouldn't refill it. AHHH complicated

Re: GHI and Meds- When does injects coverage run out?
SIRM won't order the max :/ I tried. If I would have known that, I wouldn't have ordered any new meds and saved a fill. I believe it doesn't have to correspond with an IVF so I think you may be good. You should call freedom and ask. They are very knowledgable with our insurance.

You can absolutely refill the script from your former RE. Freedom doesn't check anything.
If you place an order using RE #2's prescription, that would leave you with one more lifetime, called-in prescription.

I know its annoying. I still have a refill of Menopur from my former RE so I may try to refill that if I need it. I have to call Freedom now...fun.

Re: GHI and Meds- When does injects coverage run out?
Hi! I was wondering how you got your meds? Did you tell the doctor to call Freeedom Pharmacy or did your doctor have to call GHI directly to order them? I'm trying to get injectable medication for IUI but have been getting such a run around with who I need to call, etc. Thanks!

Your REs office should call in your meds to freedom pharmacy. Tell them to order the max. If you are using Gonal F for IUI ask them to order the max so you have enough for several IUIs. I'm not sure what the max is but I know one time they ordered me 9-900 pens.
You will get the run around if you call GHI, Express scripts, PICA....I had so many issues. Its not an easy process. My last order I had so many issues an it was a nightmare. I suggest telling Freedom to call you if any meds are denied. Freedom just sent me meds that weren't covered and I had a hard time figuring it all out.
Let me know if you have any questions.
