You can do a day trip to Hoover Dam & Grand Canyon; or much closer is Red Rocks which is also beautiful

Re: heading to vegas for a wedding w/o the kiddies!!
how long are you staying? The Grand Canyon is a loooong drive from Vegas. I personally wouldn't do that if you're only there a few days. Hoover Dam ........it's just a big huge, well, dam. The Red Rock Canyon is beautiful, and I think there is a casion/spa built there too that is supposed to be amazing.
w/o the kids, I'd just relax! Go to the pool, spa, garb a drink whenever you feel like it .......have a good time! Where are you staying?

It's red rock casino and spa. Just opened not too long ago and it's supposed to be gorgeous.

Definately go see a show - we loved that!
Walk around, visit the casinos - that was our favorite part just walking around, especially in the evening.
We also made a drive to Grand Canyon - it's about 5 hours, but SO worth it and so amazing.
Love VEGAS! It's one of my favorites. Also enjoy the food - soooo many yummy restaurants. My favorite so far is Bobby Flays! MMM.

I want to do this exactly - but my DH doesnt think we can fit in a day to GC - (im guessing bc this will get in the way of his casino lurking and pool lounging.... so we shall see - we are there m-f (its a thursday wedding.....cant wait - I have always wanted to see Vegas!

Re: heading to vegas for a wedding w/o the kiddies!!
Just walking from hotel to hotel can fill hours and hours. Every hotel has many things to see and all kinds of entertainment options. There is also free entertainment: like the volcano show in front of the Treasure Island, the Bellagio Flower Show, etc, etc.
Definitely see a show: we saw Le Reve and KA. Both were amazing but I think KA takes the cake. It was mesmerizing!
There is also Crazy Horse Paris at MGM- saw it a few years ago and thought it was fantastic!
We have been to Hoover Dam: it was fun! If you have an extra day you can spare you can totally do it, but I wouldn't say it's a must, especially if it's your first time in Vegas.

crazy horse paris at mgm closed down. i recommended it to a friend and found out it closed sometime last year.
i saw O at the bellagio and Love at the Mirage. O was really good. Love was good but dh and i are not big Beatles fans. we had better seats for O. we like to do at least 1 or 2 shows every time we go.

If you can swing it I highly recommend helicopter ride with Maverick tours (and I am a big scaredy cat too) over the Hoover Dam with landing in the Grand Canyon. It was awesome and I did the first tour at like 6am and back by pool for lunch.
