Re: Recommend a Tutor for Kindergarten?

Can I ask what for? Is there anything the school can do to work with dc? My son goes to extended day which helps him a ton (he's in 1st now)

Who suggested a tutor?

He goes to a private kindergarten and I feel he is falling behind.

I know of a kindergarten teacher (Harborfields SD) who lives in the area and tutors on the side.

I don't know what your schedule is like but have you tried working with your DC in addition to his homework?

I buy those workbooks at the Dollar Tree and give my DS additional work to review for his test. It seems to help, there are also a ton of free phonics and math worksheets available online.

Abc mouse.com also get really great reviews. Make sight word cards and play different games with them. The simplest thing makes them excited! If he is having trouble with letter sounds, get the leapfrog letter factory DVD it is amazing.

If he is having trouble tapping out Cvc words, make three boxes, then have him put each letter sound in the box!

Thank you for all of the recommendations. We do go over some stuff at home but he does not want to do it. In a couple of weeks I am having a complete evaulation for speach, etc. Maybe this is the problem.
