Thank you notes..yay or nay? or email?
After 4 years as a SAHM, I am heading back to work. I worked at my company for 11 years before that so I am sooo out of the loop.
Do you still write Thank You notes after an interview? Is an email appropriate? It was for a corporate bank job.
TIA!

Always! Hand-written too shows you are interested and genuine. I think email is appropriate for say, the HR person you met with briefly. But person hiring or who will be directly supervising you go hand-written.

Re: Thank you notes..yay or nay? or email?
I think email is totally fine in today's market. When I interview someone, I expect to have a thank you note in my inbox that night, maybe the next day. I've received maybe 1 handwritten thank you note ever and I thought it was a bit of a dated custom. I also spent a few days wondering where the thank you note was.
Often hiring managers make their decision right away whether they want to move forward with you or not. Having that thank you note right away can only help your situation. I have passed on candidates who never sent a thank you (and by handwriting one, I would think you did not send one in that 24-48 hour window that I'm making my decision).

I've always gotten the job when I sent handwritten though. Most recent this past May with a near impossible employer to get into.
I guess do both to be on the safe side.

I think sending an email in this day and age is fine. If you wanted to send a handwritten note, that's good too! In this case I think you could go with whatever you feel comfortable doing so long as you send something. Good luck!!
