Just when I got used to sleeping....please help me with a sleep regression for my 18 month old
It took me 16months to get DS to sttn and now at 18 months he won't go to sleep at all. He is screaming at the top of his lungs and standing in the crib. Any suggestions? I hate hearing him scream. If I take him out of the crib he just wants to play.

Re: Just when I got used to sleeping....
Separation anxiety hits and all time high from about 18-21 months old. One of my twins is going through it right now. It impacted her going to sleep at night for a while... Hang in there!

Re: Just when I got used to sleeping....
Any suggestions on how to get him to sleep? I just went back to work about 6 weeks ago so I was afraid it was separation anxiety.

Don't blame the separation anxiety on you going back to work. It's nothing you've created. My DD is 18 months, and I'm a SAHM and separation anxiety has hit us HARD at bedtime over here! The only thing that has helped is me staying in the room with her until she falls asleep. Idk if that's the "right" thing to do, but it's where we're at right now. She's been waking up at night a lot too. Two weeks ago was the worst, up for hours at a time, but it's slowly getting better- she's slept through a few nights this week, or if she wakes it's not for very long. If you google "18 month sleep regression", it seems many kids go through this. I know it's hard, but it's likely just another phase to ride out. Hang in there!

What do you do when she wakes up? How do you get her back to sleep?

Again, probably not the "right" answer, but I've been lying on the floor by her crib. I did try doing CIO, which worked great for us at 9 months, but she just makes herself sick now.
