c-section @SB
Hi Ladies! I'm delivering at Stony Brook with a scheduled C-section. Last time was a whirlwind and I truly can't remember what happens AFTER they deliver the baby. Does the baby get to stay with you in recovery? How long until you get to your room? When should family members be able to visit the baby? Any extra information would be awesome!! TIA

Re: c-section @SB
I just got home yesterday from SB. My C-section was schd for 12pm but we got bumped 3 times for emergencies.. I ended up having DS at 2:32pm. As soon as we got back to recovery they handed me my son and he NEVER left my side till the last night when he had to have blood drawn (at 3AM) lol... They don't really tell you the nursery is open if you want to put ur baby in it but it is.. Although there was not one baby in there so I would of felt guilty putting mine there haha (think that may be the goal ;) haha) My 1st night was a little hard since DH went home and I was still hooked up to iv's and such but we made it lol. I just called a nurse every time DS had to be changed since I couldn't really stand to change him.
They are doing this new thing where the baby doesn't leave you. They literally did everything in front of me. I was in recovery for about a hour and a half, Once we got to my room the nurse washed son up and did a overall exam again right in front of us.
As far as visitors go. When you are in recovery no one is allowed to come back with you besides ur hubby or whoever you have with u during delivery. Once you get to your room anyone can come up and see you guys. I had my parents stay home till I was in recovery so they didn't have to wait around the whole day..

What a good question! I am having twins this summer and wondered this same thing, as I will have to have a csection. I might be asking for more help than most but OH well that's what the nurses are there for right? Lol
