If you could move
I've wanted to move off Long Island for such a long time but I can't find a job in any places that I've been interested in moving to. I went to school to be an art teacher. Can't find job here. I also looked into Denver and North Carolina Raleigh area. No luck with jobs either. So if you didn't have to worry about finding a job first before moving. What are some places you would want to move to?

If you could move
We're looking into moving to North Carolina, Charlotte area this summer. Well, we're hoping to put the house up this summer and move by end of year early next year as long as DH can get a job making a decent salary. He's going to talk to a recruiter about it down there when we visit in june.

Re: If you could move
Ugh we always talk about it but it would never happen. Too much of our lives are tied to this area and I can't imagine job prospects being any greater for either of our industries.
Maybe COL is cheaper, but I can't imagine surviving anywhere on less than I'm making now on my salary, which you know would most likely be the case.

Re: If you could move
I would love to go to Florida. My brother is already there and he loves it. I know if I went my mom and my sister would go. But I know I would never make the money I am making here.

Re: If you could move
We lived in Northern VA (wasn't really any cheaper, maybe car insurance) and loved it! We missed our family too much and moved back home once DS was born. Happy to be near our family now but it really was a great place to live, other than the insane traffic.

Re: If you could move
For me, it would depend more if my family would come with me. I'm super close with my parents and I'm not sure how I'd do being states apart from them.
DH and I do talk about possibly moving a bit north when we're ready to buy a home - maybe the Poughkeepsie area just because you can get so much more for your money! I went to school in Loudonville and it is beautiful!! But just as expensive as LI. We're both NYS employees so we pretty much have to stay in the state.
But if a job wasn't an issue I'd love to move to:
Agoura Hills, CA Catalina Island, CA North Carolina Maine Boston Newport, Rhode Island

Re: If you could move
If I had NO ties... I would move to CA
When DS graduates high school we are either going to SC or FL as snowbirds (at least that's my plan)

Re: If you could move
If I could I would move back to Ireland. Maybe when we retire we will be able to buy a small retirement home.
Otherwise this is a big & ongoing debate in my house at the moment. We don't know where we want to move to.

Re: If you could move
NYC is my first love, so I don't see myself leaving for a long time.
That said, I would consider Northeast Cali (Oakland is actually a really cool area), Seattle, and Eugene, OR.

Re: If you could move
Dh has been recruited for jobs in dallas, Raleigh, sunrise fl and Denver. We looked into all 4. I like Raleigh the best. Moving west has zero appeal to me I love the ocean too much! In the end I can't move our girls away from my family it's not worth it!

Re: If you could move
For as long as my kids are school aged, we're not going anywhere. But I can see us splitting time between NY and FL when we're older.

Re: If you could move
I lived in Philadelphia for 3 years when I went to law school, and I really liked that area, including suburbs.
I also like New England.
I like northern California, but of course that's not an area you move to in order to save on the cost of living!
I could also see myself in or around a small southern city, Charleston (anyone watch Bravo's "Southern Charm"? lol), Savannah, that type of place.
I guess I like living on the coasts (with beaches, parks) near urban areas (for restaurants, theater, etc.).
