Mother's Day Presents?

Upon hearing people talking, I'm finding that many people buy Mothers Day presents for people who aren't their mother. For example, if I followed this thinking, I would buy my sister-in-law a present because she is the mother to my 2 nephews. This thought has honestly never even crossed my mind -- I only buy a gift for my mother, MIL and grandmother. I would probably buy one for my godmother if we were closer, but she hasn't been in my life for ages. Thoughts on who gets gifts on Mother's Day?

It varies for us. Generally it's my mom and MIL. If more of us are getting together (SIL, DH aunt) I might pick them up a little token gift like a small gift card or candle from BBW.

It really depends on the family. My mother is adamant that I don't get gifts from her because I am not her mother, but my MIL gets me a lovely gift every year, and tells me it's because she appreciates what good mom I am. And of course we give gifts to my mom and MIL. My sisters do not buy me gifts ever and I would not expect it but when I was pregnant with my first (they are both younger, no kids) they got my a mani/pedi gift cert for that Mother's Day.

I also get for my grandmother, DH however does not buy for his 2 grandmothers.

The only people I get presents for are my MIL and my grandmother. Since I do see my sisters and my aunt that day, I will pick them up either a plant or a card and one of the Mothers Day scratch offs

We only get gifts and cards for our moms (grandparents are no longer here)

I have, in the past when going to a big gathering, given other "moms" a flower and a happy Mother's Day wish just because. The only other exception is 1st Mother's Day of someone I'm close to. I will send them a card for the occasion.

My sister, SIL and I switch gifts. This is my first mothers day with a baby - but they got me gifts for being Godmother to one of each of their kids.

I bought gifts for my sister and two SILs on their first mother's day. The only people I buy for every year are my mother, grandmother and MIL.

I don't buy for everyone in my family but I get a gift for my mom, MIL, and for my best friends that are also moms.

Just use to buy for mom/mil. One or two years got a card for godmother(after she said her other godkids got her cards).

my IL's get me a mothers day gift, and grandmother in law gets me one too.

My brothers give me a card. Sometimes they throw in scratch offs too. I told them they did not have to do it, but they said that they wanted to let me know how much they admired me as a mom.

I give a present to my mom. MIL, and my grandma.
I get a present from DH/my kids.
My first mother's day my mom insisted that she should not have a present for me as I am not her mom. I said nothing at that point, but she then went and got my DH a present for DH for his first father's day. I was really upset because her mom gives her a mother's day present and she got my DH a father's day present. So after that I spoke up about it.
My in-laws and my grandma also give me a present.

I buy for my mom and mil. My mom makes more of a fuss on me..silly mommy. Mil takes but never gives..not even a card.

I get my mom, mil, and my kids godmother gifts. And my aunt- my godmother if we see her.

i buy for my mom and mil and then since i usually have mothers day at my house i get our grandmothers and aunts either flowers or stratch offs and a card

I buy for my mom.

She and my sister also buy for me. When I was married, my exDH wouldn't do anything, and they felt bad so they started to. Nothing big, but something fun

We usually do something fun too, this year we are going to the NYBG

I would get something for every mother you will spend the day with- even if it's just a single rose and a card.

I hate my mothers.. passionately
One is my biological who I haven't seen or heard from in a decade
The other is my step mother who has recently screwed me over again and has left me with my father's cremation debt. So.. screw that.

I would get my aunt something cause she's such a huge part of our lives and part of my daughter's life. Otherwise, no one gets a thing from us. Why, they aren't my mother?

I expect nothing from anyone else. (there's a BFF who generally shocks me with something thru the year randomly and makes me feel small but in a good way. Humbled you'd say. She keeps me real) But other than that. Nope. I don't think anyone who knows me would expect anything either. I appreciate people for who they are in my life and everyone has their own form of appreciation but mother's day isn't for me to appreciate every woman in my life who is a mother.

I get for my mother and mother in law. Sometimes my sister and I get each other something really small, like $5 lotto ticket or something.

I get a gift for my mother and starting this year I will get a gift for my sister since she is DD godmother. My sister buys me a small gift from my
Niece/goddaughter for Mother's Day- usually a plant and a craft that my niece makes for me.
DH insists that his mom does not want a gift and only sends her a card- every year I ask him if he wants to send flowers and he says No.
