pediatric orthopedist
DS is almost 3. He has low muscle tone and has been receiving PT thru EI since he was 18 months. I am concerned because his ankle turns in significantly b/c of the low tone. He also has flat feet. Would like to get an orthopedist opinion; although it's muscular, I am wondering should he be braced or put in orthodics. I don't want to not do anything if something should be done.
Can anyone recommend a pediatric orthopedist? I am in the Huntington area, but will travel for someone good. Thanks!

I have heard good things about gaffney at Winthrop. We see David Roye at Columbia who is supposed to be a super star. Haven't been disappointed. He nailed my sons diagnosis after many missed it. Good luck!

pediatric orthopedist
My son wears orthotics. He is 2 1/2 he has or had low tone trunk & high tone legs. He was not formally diagnosed with Cerebral palsy although I believe that is what he has. We were just told tight heel cords. His MRI normal. We see Gaffney at Winthrop. He does NOT agree with the AFO's in my sons condition. We did it on advice from P/T who works with him 2-3X week. We are happy that we did. Follow what you think is best. If you are in early intervention, make sure you get thru them....make them pay.

One of the two recommended to us by my pediatricians office in in Huntington. It's Dr. Lewis, they said he only does pediatrics and he's really good. We went with the other one as i'm further east than you.

We have seen Dr. Carrion in Stony Brook since birth...we are very happy and everyone we have spoken to about him has also been impressed with him.
