20 - 30 people for Drinks & Apps - DH's 40th?

Can you suggest some places where I can do a really informal, comfortable 'open bar' type of thing. - Don't want a formal sit down dinner - Just like a come for drinks and hang out-

I don't want to just invite everyone out and run a tab and have NO idea where I'll end up at the end of the night KWIM? I'm much more comfortable w/ paying a pp price for 3 or 4 hours .........

Right now Croxley's in Farmingdale is my front runner - but his birthday is in July .......I was hoping for something laid back, on the water ......
Smuggler Jacks doesn't start on the weekend until 10 pm - I don't want to start THAT late !!

Not on the water, but, I know someone who had a 30th birthday party at Stinger's in RVC. It was very casual. People were able to buy bracelets for open bar for I think $30 for 3 hours or so and they included food too.

If you do it at the Library in farmingdale, you'll get the upstairs to yourselves. everyone pays downstairs, gets bracelet before going up and the space is all yours. I can't remember if was $30 or $35 per person.

As far as being on the water, do you want Nassau or Suffolk?

I'd prefer to be in Nassau - And I'm picking up the bill
which is why I'd prefer the flat rate so I know what I'm in for as opposed to just running a bar tab which could end up being $2k before I blink.

Totally not Nassau, but i did drinks and apps for my husband's retirement party at Napper Tandy's in Smithtown. We had a private room , full open bar and 2 hours of unlimited passed appetizers for $35/pp. they were awesome to work with and the party was fantastic.

If you are looking for VERY laid back and def far far far from fancy you can try Toomeys in Amityville. I have never been there but I think its kinda a towny type place but might be really fun for a group.

Not sure if they can give you your own area.

It's not on the water, but we just went to a 40th birthday at Novita in Garden City and loved it! They have a private room downstairs that has a very lounge-y vibe with a full bar and leather couches. We had a great time.

Also, Kasey's in Rockville Centre has a really nice roof top bar where you can have parties.

What about the Bulldog? And it's right over the border in Amityville.

Not on the water but it's a fun atmosphere and they have great apps.

What about going to the Nautical Mile? We are doing an end of the year party there and for $30pp we have a 3 hour open bar (at Bamboo Bar and Grill). People are going to need to pay for their own food for us, but if you get in touch with them, they may be able to work with you.

press 195 in RVC-They do a lot of parties in there back area and I believe they serve a whole bunch of panini's family style.

kaseys in rvc. i had dh's 30th there. we had the side room that has its own bar and bar tables and couches. passed hordeourves and open bar for 4 hours. it was great and everyone really enjoyed it
