State Test/Terra Novas for NJ K/1st grade kids
Any other NJ moms have kids taking the exams this week? or been through it?
Its been ok because I think my delusional DS thinks this is a special test so he has been excited and doesnt realize.
But today, I sense he was over it because he said 1 more day and is happy it will be over. How are your little ones holding up.
I think its intense and was thrown off because I didnt know the had to take taste test so young.

My kids took the terranovas in March. Believe it or non our school has the kindergarten take them too! Crazy. They don't mind so much. They don't make a huge deal over them so as not to freak out the kids.

What is this test? I am in NJ and have not heard of it. I know they test my son a lot but they don't give us a lot of the results.

I'm in NJ and have a 1st grader and I'm not aware of him having any state tests.

I don't if Terra Nova is a private school exam. The older Kids in DS's school took it in march with the rest and the kindergarten and first graders. I just didn't realize they were going to get tested but didn't make a big deal out of it. Just was surprised.

I guess not everyone town test the little ones. I grew up in NYC so NJ always confuses me since there are so many towns with different mayors. Unlike the 5 boroughs where all the publics schools are run the same. Also my son goes to Catholic so maybe that's also why it's different.
I thought Terra Nova was for all schools but maybe it's the state testing they use for catholic schools?

they use terra nova tests in catholic schools in Brooklyn and queens but not the first and second graders

They do take a test in NJ for 1st graders. My DS took it last year. Its not something they make a big deal about. I want to say it was taken in April.
My DD is in 1st grade now and she never said anything about taking any tests.

Damn I feel like my kids school is the only one who tested Kindergarten.
The kids were not stressed and it was a big deal. We told to make sure they took it seriously and had a good nights sleep.
I think a lot of the kids in his school were just over it after the second day since it was 4 days.

So the test for 1st grade is called the CPT-4 and my 1st grader didn't take it.
This week the 3rd,4th and 5th graders are taking the NJ ASK tests. My friend has a 3rd grader and he took it . Her cousin is a 1st grade teacher in Hazlet and they don't take either tests and never have.
I wonder how they determine which districts take the tests and don't.

I wonder too.. It seems so different district by district. Like there isn't a NJ standard or I'm probably just confused lol.
