Also where can you buy lemongrass and citronella plants? I've found a few places that are getting in citronella soon but no one seems to carry lemongrass.

Try Hick's Nursery.

Definitely Hicks! I bought citronella there a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I saw some lemongrass plants. I also picked up some lavender plants since they supposedly repel mosquitos and other bugs too.

Put a bat house up in your yard. They eat mosquitoes :)

I got mine at Home Depot. Also the bat boxes help but it takes a few years for them to establish a home in the box

I will give Hicks a call and am looking into the bat houses. That sounds like an interesting solution if they find it!

We just moved to FL and were asking the pest control companies what to do about mosquitos - one company recommended something called the Mosquito Magnet. The company doesn't sell it, own it, etc so no self-promoting interest. The pest guy that came told us about it. Haven't looked at it yet.

There are different varieties of citronella. some are prettier than others. I had a few plants last year, they did not work. i think you need to get a well-established crop i think.

They sell lemongrass at Dee's in oceanside.
I think- but am not sure- that you need to do something to the plants to repel mosquitos-- either burn it or at least crush the plants to release the oils.
