Hey all.
I'm pretty new here - just started the "process" of getting pregnant with Dr Cohen over at North Shore in Manhasset.
So, long story short, I had my first round of Clomid (50mg) last month. Worked like a charm - 2 great follicules ready for IUI. IUI time came.... the doc tried 3 different catheters but couldnt seem to get through my cervix into the uterus. Most likely, I have scar tissue from a LEEP done way back in 2001. He's putting me under general anesthesia next week to do a hysteroscopy and take care of whatever needs to be.
I know I sound like a baby, but I'm scared to death. Anyone else been put under for a hysteroscopy? I've never been under anesthesia before....never even had an IV before! Will I wake up in pain? Be nauseous?
Its so ironic....i always worried about having too short of a cervix because of the LEEP. Turns out I likely have the opposite issue - Doc Cohen can't even get in there!

Having scar tissue on your cervix from the LEEP can def inhibit any kind of fertilization. So happy you are getting it fixed so you can get that BFP.
I was put under for my hysteroscopy and they did a D&C and lap at the same time for scar tissue in my uterus and endo . It was a piece of cake. Everyone responds to anesthesia differently so I don't know how you will be but I was not nauseous after and just a bit sore. Had some spotting for a few days but all was okay. If you are just going for the hysteroscopy, you should be even better than I was. Good luck to you!

This was me!!! I can assure you not to worry When I first started testing with my regular gyno, they found a cervical polyp and when they went to remove it they had this issue and couldn't do the surgery. She actually referred me to my current RE. I felt like such a freak!

I too went for hysteroscopy and lap surgery to remove slight endo (at the same time). All went well b/c they used the proper sized instruments. I'm sure this will be the case with you too. For me, the worst part about going under anesthesia is thinking about it beforehand, but it is not bad at all. They make it very comfortable for you and usually I don't even remember going out,, it just happens that quick. Before you know it you will wake up. I personally had no major pain after it, just crampy for a day and ibuprofen seemed to do the trick.

So try not to worry too much.... since I've been seeing my RE, my cervix issue was never brought up as an issue again. I've gone for HSG, water sonos, and even did IVF ...and no problems. Good luck!!

First and foremost welcome and these group of women are GREAT. I've had a hysteroscopy with dr Cohen last yr and it went well no side effect besides just sleepy I went to work the next day. Dr Cohen also did my fibroid sx 3 yrs ago and that was tricky cuz my fibroids were bad. I am no longer a patient of his but if I had to have another sx I would definitely call dr Cohen.

Oh my gosh ladies.....thank u so much for your very reassuring replies. you have all made me feel much better. can't wait to get this done next week so we can move on to clomid round #2 :)

Thank you so much for the reassurance....I'm actually somewhat excited to have it done this coming Tuesday, so we can get back to the business of getting pregnant :)
