Re: Where out east?

So where did you end up?
Haha not getting a lobster roll!!! We went to Love Lane for a late lunch - it was at 4pm and they were closing for an hour before dinner. So we didn't get to have a lobster roll. I was sort of bummed but whatever. We are gonna go to Left coast Kicthen in the next week so I can get one. They do a pretty good lobster roll there. Not exactly a maine lobster roll, but probably one of the closest I have found.
I was trying to explain this to a friend the other day - when they write "New England Lobster roll" or "Maine lobster roll" on the menu, you have certain expectations. Its like when you leave NY and you go to get pizza and it says "NY pizza" or with bagels it ays "NY Bagel." You have certain expectations that you wouldn't have if they didn't add the NY to it. If I went somewhere and it said NY lobster roll, then I wouldn't expect the same thing.

OK but why do I keep seeing claws (shells) in these pictures? Am I hallucinating? LOL This is getting me hungry though!
There are 2 different types of lobster rolls.
The cold one that has the mayo tec.
the hot one which is basically a lazy mans lobster. Its the lobster out of the shell served with a roll and butter.

I did hear there was a good lobster roll truck in Montauk though. I'll have to check it out in the fall when I go.
I had a lobster roll from Dureyas once and it was just not good. :( Lots of lobster, but it was basically a mayo sandwich. This was actually my first lobster roll outside of Maine and I was horrified by the cost and the amount of mayo. haha. But I felt so bad that my husband and brother in law spent so much money on the lobster rolls that I forced myself to eat it. I felt so sick after though. This was a few years ago. Maybe they make them better now!
