Not sure if anyone follows the Baby Boy Bakery blog
This beautiful little boy died last month from getting hit by a car. This couple is so strong and amazing. I don't know how they do it....

I follow her on Instagram. Such a tragic story. That little boy was such a cutie. She has a video of him laughing a while back and it is just the cutest sound. I purchased a red balloon for Ryan shirt for my DD. All proceeds went to her and her husband.

Yes, so so sad. It is amazing how the internet community came together to help them. Something positive out of something so terribly sad.

I haven't heard of it. I just read the blog and couldn't get through it or I would have been sobbing next to my son. What is the story? How did the internet come together?

I believe there was a freak accident when he stepped into the street for a moment to retrieve a frisbee and he was struck by a truck and killed. My heart can't comprehend what they're going through.

Yes I heard about this on Instagram and purchased a red balloons for Ryan shirt. All proceeds go to the family. A bunch of online kid clothing stores came together and designed shirts in his memory. 100% of the proceeds go to the family. I think about them often and wish them strength.
Edit to add that lovedbyhannahandeli and geofoxapparel are two online boutiques that are selling the shirts for Ryan's family in case anyone is interested

I have been reading it here and there. That is just beyond horrifying. I sometimes can't look at it because it's just too upsetting.

I guess it's my fault for opening up the link but why would you post something so horrific? in my opinion there's no reason to bring it to the attention of others its just sad and upsetting.maybe I'm overreacting because I have a little boy and now this is all I think about.

Because sadly, life is horrific. If you want to hide from it, fine, but then you can never turn on the news, read the papers, read your newsfeed on facebook, etc. This family has gotten an outpouring of love and support from the internet community in a horrendous, tragic time and it seems to be helping them get through the horror. I found it hard to read about too because I have a DD that age, but I'd rather know about it, offer support and take it as a reminder that life is short, to hug my DD a little tighter and to never take anything for granted. Stories like this, as upsetting as they are, have helped put things in perspective for me and reminded me not to sweat the small stuff. My first world problems don't seem so important when I imagine what this poor couple is going through.

Sadly it's real life for SOMEONE, so why not? There are lives outside of our own. It's comforting to that family and it also should help others gain perspective of what they DO have. Definitely makes me think and take a step back, and grieve with that family. In addition it is NEWS, since they have a blog that many already may visit, so she was sharing info.

Re: Not sure if anyone follows the Baby Boy Bakery blog
I know there are lives outside of my own. Maybe I am being selfish and only thinking about what if that was me.
Believe me I know exactly what I do have- 5 years of IVF hell to be so lucky and thankful and grateful for my son. I thank god everyday for him.
I just find this story too heartbreaking. I feel for the family. I don't not sweat the small OR The BIG STUFF.
As sad, pathetic and perhaps stupid as this may sound. I prefer to be ignorant Ignorance is bliss. But I do know it's not reality.

This kind of touches back on the thread the other day about living in fear.
You're not wrong to feel you feelings. NO ONE can argue your feelings.
Now that I have a little boy these stories just gut me. Because I now put myself in the mothers shoes, and my son in the sons shoes. Whereas before I had him, this would make me sad but not on the level it does now.

I feel the same way. As much as I can barely stomach them, they touch me in a way I could never have fathomed before children. And for me personally, reading these stories keeps me grounded in reality and reminds me of what is really important. I am way less likely to get mad over a wrong Starbucks order or someone being a d!ck in traffic or my kid coming home for the 5927384 time with rocks and pinecones falling out of his pockets even though I have told him to knock it off.

I'm sure this will be taken the wrong way, but if it were me in that situation, I don't think I'd want all the publicity/public support. Wouldn't want tshirts, wouldn't want donations (I guess unless I literally couldn't pay for related expenses), wouldn't want sharing of my blog. To each their own and I'm sure it helps them in the ways they need help, but I feel like I would hate my dead child to be like some poster child for tragedy for people who just want to read the story and hug their kids tighter tonight but then tomorrow it's just forgotten. Idk if I'm articulating it right.

The way I feel about it is this:
This was someones child. Their whole life. It is horrific and upsetting, but when I read these stories, I think about the child..I read about him and could feel the parents pain...he was just here, a living breathing human being with a whole life ahead of him, and now he is not. By bringing it to the attention of others it not only has us reflect on this child, but it could also help others...sometimes through tragedy comes good. Like stories of children drowning in pools, or opening their front door and walking out without parents knowing, it makes you maybe think twice about how you handle similar situations.
Its upsetting but it is life. It's so sad. I hope they continue to stay strong
