I did not get any calls from open market either ... It has become olas or the positions had been slotted for someone in mind when posted.

It's the end of the school year, so principals are all slightly insane. You're going to get more calls over the summer.
Hang in there - and send resumes to every school that you're interested in. Openings happen out of the blue. People get sick, move, and quit - and principals will look through a stack of resumes on their desk before Open Market. If you really love a school, walk your resume in! <-- only in NYC though. On LI they don't appreciate drop-ins.

I'm trying to keep an open mind and keep telling myself that something is bound to come up over the summer. I just didn't realize how difficult it really is to get into Queens. I've been a teacher for 10 years in the Bronx and I'm also wondering if principals prefer to hire a teacher with less years of experience :(

I transferred through open market 7 years ago. I only got one call and it was in mid July. Luckily I was hired. I would suggest also sending emails to the principals or paper resumes. Its hard to get into Queens. I was only looking into District 26 so it was even harder. GL

Where do you find principals emails?

They used to be right on each school's page. I just went to my school's page and I don't see my principal's email. My principal's email is the first initial of her first name and then her whole last name @schoolc.nyc.gov. So Most principal's emails will be the same unless there is another person with the same name. On the main DOE page type in a school number you are interested in and then click the link to the left of the map. You will end up on the school's page and can see the principal's name. GL
