Severely Abnormal Morphology and IUI success rates

DH just had SA #3. Good news was his count went up to 29.5 million.

Bad news-motility 38%, morphology 1%-severely abnormal.

So with that being said, am I wasting time with IUIs? I am waiting to speak to the RE. IVF with ICSI was always the recommendation. However, we have no IVF coverage.

So, anyone have any success with IUIs with low motility and horrible morphology? TIA!

Hey Hun! We're kind of dealing with the same thing. Good count and motility but morphology was 2%. I just switched RE's but at the place I was going to, we did 4 IUI's so far and only had one chemical pregnancy out of it the first IUI and nada for the others. The new RE which we went to today actually, is repeating hubbys SA on tuesday and he said if the morphology is still that low then there's most likely a fertilization problem and recommended IVF with ICSI.

Do you have IUI coverage? If so, then I would try a few months of IUI's first. The new doctor said after 3-4 failed IUIs he would suggest IVF. We do have IVF coverage but still have to pay 25% of the cost. So then the question becomes would you and your hubby be willing to pay of pocket for IVF?

Thanks all. We do have IUI coverage, so I am going to hang in there a while longer.

IUIs did not work for my DH and I, but I do know several people IRL who have gotten pregnant via IUI with MFI. Good luck Chat Icon
