Rehoboth Beach, DE or Ocean City, MD?
They seem to be about the same distance away so which is better with a 2 year old and (almost) 5 year old? If youve been to either/both can you describe fun things to do besides the obvious beach?

They aren't too far from each other so you can do day trips to whichever one you don't stay at. I'd stay in Delaware b/c there's no tax. There's also Dewey and Bethany which is in between the two.

Rehoboth is about 20 min north of OC. Personally, I like Rehoboth A LOT better than OC. OC is too congested and commercialized IMO.

I have been to both. I love OC and have been going for about 5 years now and prefer it over Rehoboth. OC has lots for kids such as mini golf, water park, amusement parks etc. here is a link to lots more activities with kids. http://ococean.com/things-to-do/explore/kids-love-oc/
We just got back from Rehoboth and even though there is a great amusement park for kids which we all loved. It was not family friendly and traffic was crazy. We stayed only 2 miles from the beach and it took us 1 hour to get to the boardwalk and parked. We could not take a stroller into any restaurant. So with 4 toddlers it was impossible. There is no public transport and taxis are very hard to get. OC on the other hand has buses every 10 minutes and are very reasonable. Taxis are always around and the restaurants are very family friendly.

Re: Rehoboth Beach, DE or Ocean City, MD?
we stayed in ocean city for the first time the first week of july and had a great time! our dd is 4 and ds is 2. based on recommendations here and trip advisor we stayed at the Hilton ocean suite resort. It was so much fun! the kids loved the 2 pools...the kiddie pool had 2 water slides that my dd who was 4 could handle alone and even had a lazy river. There was bar service at the kiddie pool too we loved to grab lunch and a drink.
the hotel had events for the kids during the day such as arts and crafts, cooking, a magician and movie nights and it was steps to the ocean.
We went to the beach, hung out at the pool, walked the boardwalk, had some great dinners.
It was my first time in ocean city and I have to say we had so much fun. Looking to do this again next year.
As for rohobeth, never been so can't offer any opinion on that but really enjoyed ocean city!
