Re: Developmental Ped

I guess it depends on your insurance on whether or not you require a referral- mine does not, so I just called one that took my insurance. Be aware that the wait to see them may be months... I would not recommend the one that I saw, although she was very nice, I did not find her very helpful (silverman). Not to mention that I waited 3 hours in her office (with a very cranky DS). Someone on here recommended one at Cohen's recently.

Re: Developmental Ped

Highly recommend Cohen's although the wait time is 3-4 months for initial intake.

We recently met with Helen Papaioannou in Lake Success.

Once youre an established patient, it's much quicker to get appts.

I also believe some of the girls on here said they are increasing the size of their facility further East to accommodate more patients.

I contribute the wait time with the fact that they are also following newborn preemies who take higher priority.

I go to Cohen's as well and definitely recommend them. I see Dr. Adelsman and love him. They have an office in Commack and Lake Success. They are increasing their staffing dramatically because of the closing of the Cody Center and will be building up the practice in Commack. According to Dr. A, who is the director of the program, they are going to be focusing on the younger children and major issues and pulling away from just prescription refill visits so it will be easier soon for new patients to get timely appointments.
