Black leather recliners with pets?

We have a cat with front and back claws. We are scoping out recliners, but are hesitant to get black leather because of our cat.

Do you have leather furniture and has it been a problem with your cat?

We have two cats and leather furniture with them is a definite no (in our house). One of our cats used to be an outdoor cat, and she will absolutely mangle anything with leather or fake leather. Shred it in a day. My other cat who has always been an indoor cat (both still have all claws) will also poke at the leather, but not as bad as his sister.

Some people luck out and their cats pay no attention to the leather. Maybe my cat is worse because she used to be an outdoor cat. We have microfiber couches and have been doing ok with them.

we have 2 black leather couches and 2 cats.. one of my cats pays no interest to the couch, the other cat has DESTROYED the couch. I would not get another leather piece of furniture-- however, if you do get leather, I highly recommend sticky paws-- they have stopped our cat from further scratching the furniture

Thank you so much! We also spoke to our contractor today who also has cats AND leather furniture. He says his wife has to keep the leather couches covered, like at your Grandma's house! He also said no leather furniture! So we are ixnaying the leather.
