Lake Grove Fairway Opening 7/23
I have never been more excited for a store opening than I am for this. I can't even tell you how many times I've driven in the parking lot to check on the progress.

I went yesterday. It was crowded but not unbearably so. I only waited 5 minutes to check out. It's beautiful, clean and well organized. I'm in love!

We went last night. Crowded but not terrible. I like the layout of the Plainview store better but that might be b/c I'm used to it. Otherwise it's really nice inside

Lake Grove Fairway Opening 7/23
My inlaws went and raved about it. They said they stayed for 2 hours just to explore it. And they are huge Uncle Giuseppe's fans but they said they liked fairway better.

I don't get the hype, they're just an oversized supermarket that happens to have some organic food. I mean it's nice they have some specialty items but honestly the store is no big deal.
Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are far better options IMO.

I also disagree...It is a combo of Uncle Guiseppes's, Whole Foods and trader Joes.

I didn't like it at all and i was so excited to go! I actually didn't like any of the prepared foods that we bought and the bread was no where near as good as UGs. I'll be sticking to UGs and Whole Foods.

You know funny you should say that because after trying some prepared foods I totally agree, most of it was borderline gross. Their bakery and fish are great and i do like the breads, as they have delicious bagels.

I enjoyed walking around and thought they had some great stuff. I didn't get very much bc I thought the prices were pretty high. I didn't check out the prepared foods bc I don't usually buy that kind of thing at all.
My big splurge was my very favorite cheese on earth. The guy at the cheese counter was really nice and helpful but when he told me it was a great time to buy bc the store had just opened it made me  . So basically if I go back in a few months he's suggesting things won't be fresh? So I spent $12 on half a wheel of cheese and then got home and was afraid to eat it after the first day - especially being pregnant and it being a (pasteurized) soft cheese. Such a waste!

I agree. Was there a date on the cheese? I have to imagine they have use by dates on them.

See this is why I can't go. I can not do crowds and hype like that.
I don't care if they are giving money away or the food is the best thing God ever created. Not worth it to me.
Maybe in like 6 months when everyone gets over the hype.

I've been there a few times--it's ok. The service has been good--lots of smiling faces walking you to what you need, baggers at every cashier. The bakery department could be better. Deli section was ok but I wasn't crazy about their tuna and egg salad. (egg salad has lots of dill! ) They have Mangalica ham for $19.99 per 1/4 pound!  My husband has been obsessed with anchovies since we came back from Spain and loves the fish section in the deli department (smoked salmon, seafood salads etc.) I haven't tried their steaks yet-they have the dry aged steaks on display. My husband was impressed by the beer aisle. oooh!! and their British/Irish section has a great selection. I've always loved Star Bars and I searched shops in Kilkenny and Cork before finding a little shop in Dublin that had them. Well, Fairway has them!
