Would you bring your DC

I want to get tickets to the Yankees game on the day of the Derek Jeter retirement ceremony. The tickets start at $250. I would love to bring all 3 kids. But the truth is, bringing Erin may be a tremendous hardship, considering that I'd have to bring her in her stroller, as she just can not physically walk well enough to do the stadium; plus just keeping her wrangled in, we just need her stroller. So, I'd have to hope to get handicapped access and seating. But, I feel like excluding her is not the "right" thing to do either...I feel like this is something we should do as a family. At this point, I don't think she "knows" that we are Yankees fans, or that she can appreciate the fun of the game. I don't know if she will ever be able to appreciate the experience of the ceremony that we will be attending. I feel like I want to have "family" pictures from the day; I want DD#1 to know that we do things as a family; plus, I don't know if DD#1 will have fun by herself; but I just don't know. What would you do? Please no flames, I'm really struggling with this.

I would not bring her, but instead have a different day for just you and DD#2 doing something she would love. The Yankees could be DD#1's special day with you.

No flaming at all : hmmm on the one hand, I am inclined to think you should bring her because it seems you feel extremely guilty at the thought of not bringing her! If you feel this way, I don't think you will enjoy yourself at the game if you don't bring her. Will Your DH/partner etc be there to help?

That said, I don't know much at all about her condition and I do believe there are conditions for which a baseball game is not appropriate/overstimulating etc. you know this better than anyone and if you ultimately feel she will not benefit from the experience, then it is ok for her to miss it - leave her with a great sitter who will plan a day she will enjoy. Good luck!

We brought DS to Citi Field on Mike Piazza day. We had the picnic seats by the Shea bridge so he had room to run around without being a nuisance to anyone. I will say that the stadium got real loud at points during Piazza's induction to the hall of fame and that sent my DS into a meltdown. I don't know the extent of your child's condition, if she would be affected by something like that. I'm just giving my experience.

That being said, I would still, knowing what I know now, have brought my DS. He had a blast the rest of the time.

Does Yankee stadium have any areas where you buy tickets and sit inside as well as outside? That may be a good idea (we do it in I think the diamond club at citi field. My mom prefers that to handicapped seating). You can alternate between going in and out.

I think you should bring her. But have a backup plan incase you have to leave early if something should not work out.

If your DD will be comfortable in the stroller for the day, then bring her. Unless she is going to miserable at the stadium then I am always for including in every family activity. I would call up the stadium though and ask if they have any "quiet zones" you can take DD incase she gets overwhelmed or just needs a break. Have fun!!!

depends on your LO, but no I would not bring my DS because I know he can't stay still. I would be chasing him around the entire time. So I would just bring my older DC and let her enjoy.

How old is your daughter? I understand doing things as family, but if she doesnt know whats going on...why pay a few hundred dollars. I say if she doesnt get it, leave her home & have a special family day when you get home.

Personally, I would leave all 3 kids with a sitter and enjoy the day with your DH. I don't know how much the kids would get out of it and it's a lot of money to spend to find out later that she can't handle it or that it proves to be really difficult for everyone.
