Inclusion/cotaught class student ratios
I was just wondering if there are set iep to general student ratios in a cotaught class. My old school seemed to make the classes fairly balanced, but my new school not so much.

There's supposed to be. Our building had 29 in one of the inclusion classes, but had two teachers. I was a leave in a class with ten diagnosed ADHD children out of 22 students. So it varied in our district. We said there was a limit but from what I understood it was often not followed.

I'm not necessarily talking about class size. I'm more referring to the percentage of special ed students. For example, I have 12 students with ieps, 4 students with 504s, and 3 general ed students (who are most likely students whose parents refuse to classify them). I just feel like it does a disservice to them to not have them in a truly least restrictive environment. In the other schools I taught at, classes were much more balanced and I felt like it made the students with disabilities more likely to challenge themselves and thrive.

It depends. 6:1, supposedly, but then they have 504's sandwiched in there because they're not IEP, (but come on they still require services.) I ended up with 11 to 13 at any time in a class of 30 sometimes. Other times, it was legit 6. Always a co teacher btw.

Thanks. The class breakdown is 63% special ed, 47% general ed. I just want it to be fair for the students where it is actually the least restrictive environment. This is a "cotaught" class.

Your total is 110%. The numbers are off somewhere.
I teach an ICT class and the ratio (for NYC) is supposed to be 60/40 gen ed/sped.

Re: Inclusion/cotaught class student ratios
There is no law or regulation on inclusion/cotaught classes. The only regulation is that Resource room students are not allowed to be in the class.
