To VBAC or Not
So the first thing the doc asked me once I had my appt if I want to go for VBAC or stick with C-section. I am so torn and not ready to make that decision yet. Im nervous for Both to be honest but at least I know what to expect with a C-section.. Can anyone else relate? or tell me if they had a VBAC and how it went for them? TIA:)

To VBAC or Not
My friend was in the same situation. She decided to have a second section since she knew what she was getting herself into, and so that she could plan a bit better (ie: what to do with her daughter while she was at the hospital in labor).
She just had her second baby last week and said her second cs was much less painful than the first and she was happy she went that route.

I'm happy to do another c. This may sound weird butVaginal birth never appealed to me lol, you dont have to decide that now though. You still have some time

I didn't have a VBAC but really wanted to. My thought was why have surgery again if I didn't have to. My dr was onboard but told me if I didn't go on my own by my due date, they won't induce me (bc I had a prior section). He let me go one day past my due date and my son was not coming so section it was.
My friend just had her 2nd section but she wanted her tubes tied at the same time which is why she opted for the section.

I had a VBAC but throughout my pregnancy I had an open mind to both. I didn't stress myself out on having a vbac, I was ok with a c section if was needed.
My # 1 reason for wanting a VBAC was because I had to go under general anesthesia for the birth of my twins and I missed everything, I developed fevers and couldnt see them fro 3 days.
If you asked me during my 24 hours of labor I would have said give me a c section but in the end I prefered the V-birth.
I had a c section scheduled for 40 weeks (wed) and my water broke on sunday.
The one benefit of a c section would have been being able to get my tubes tied.

Same here. My ob group said :1- history tends to repeat itself. "I'd hate to see you go through all the labor and wind up with a section anyway. Recovery from labor plus c is rougher (which is what happened the first time. I was induced, they broke my water I pushed "oh great job" etc etc and wound up with a c). 2- they told me second baby tends to be bigger
Well I still wanted a vbac. We made a deal that if I didn't go into labor by my due date that id have the c. Good thing cuz at almost 9 pounds i would've snapped in half and I had made zero progress on my own. Recovery after my scheduled c was easy. Second day, I asked them to take off all the tubes iVs catheter. I didn't want them. I walked down the hallway on my own for two hours. So , as much as I didn't want the c it worked out much better. We had a plan for our big guy and everyone was calm etc. except for me lol

If I had a choice I would vbac. I had a csection with my first, and wanted a vbac with my 2nd. Unfortunately, my Ob closed me with a single suture and my new ob doesn't do vbac on single sutures. Im actually having a hard time finding a smaller office in my area who will do a vbac on single suture patients. But my search will continue since I really want a vbac.

i was really upset after having a c/s cause i really wanted a vaginal birth. but 5 years later i'm over it. lol i'm sticking with the c/s this time. ill be able to plan what to do with my son and i hear its easier the second time around. <knock on wood> my sister just had her second c/s on friday and was walking around by friday night.

I went for the VBAC. I absolutely knew it was something I wanted to try for. I wanted more children, and the doctor that did my c-section told me that risks of complications increase with each additional c-section. There are a dozen young children in my family, and what they taught me was this: Each birth experience is different no matter what exit the baby ultimately uses. The idea that I "knew what to expect" with a c-section didn't fly with me.
My VBAC recovery was 10000x easier, which came in handy with a 2 year-old at home. I felt great. BFing was easier. I have no regrets.

Interesting. I was told differently. My group based a mom's chance of success on the reason for the initial c-section. If it was an issue with the baby (like fetal distress or breech), chances of a successful VBAC were higher than if there was an issue with mom's health (pre-e, diabetes, etc). The baby changes but the mom stays the same.

Really? I had a single layer suture and I never would have known if I didn't read my hospital report. It wasn't an issue with my group. I used the Stony Brook Midwives and cannot say enough good things about them. Gaia Midwives have Nassau offices and comparable VBAC success rates. Highly recommend them!!!
