bringing appetizer meatballs to someones house
We are going to someone's house and asked to bring an appetizer. I have made the party meatballs in the crockpot and they are always a hit but I think it may be too much to transport and it to still be hot. HAs anyone done this? The couple live about 25 miles away too. If they were closer, it would be easier. I am trying to decide if I should bring something easier like shrimp cocktail.

If everything is super hot to begin with and you can plug it in again when you get there, I would go for it! Also- I would do this before I traveled any distance with shrimp, even on ice. Seafood on the go makes me nervous. lol.

What if you just transfer them to a casserole dish to bring with you and then pop it in the microwave to reheat it a bit when you get there. I don't think bringing the whole crockpot is totally necessary.

Agreed. I make big batches of cocktail meatballs in the crockpot for parties, and usually have some leftover. I store them in airtight containers and microwave the leftovers and they are just as tasty as they were out of the crockpot. So I'd transfer to a more portable container and microwave them before serving. (Probably easier for the hostess to then to have to find a place on her counter to plug in the crockpot... I know I have a large one!)

When I've had to transport cocktail meatballs I just put then in a sealed tin tray (you can get them at Party City) and I just warm them in the tray in the oven.

I'd check with the host to make sure there is room in the oven/microwave.

Ive brought them in Tupperware to a friends house. Not far away though. But they stayed hot for awhile. I agree you could pop them in the oven or microwave. or if your crockpot isn't too big, bring that and plug it in and set it to warm or low when you get there.
