Have you ever taken you child to the doctor just bc they weren't acting themselves?
I just made an appointment and I'm not sure what to even tell them. DD has not been herself for a few days and I just want her checked out. She feels very warm to me but I haven't gotten a fever although I don't always trust my thermometer. She lays on the couch moaning and asks to be carried everywhere. That's most of the time, other times she does get up and play and seems okay. I feel like they're going to think I'm crazy bc she's two and being crabby comes with the territory but it seems like more than that. Would you take her or will I look like a nut?

I'll be honest:
When I just read your msg, I thought "yep, she's nuts" and that I'd never take DS if he was fine, had no fever, etc.
But then I thought about it for a second ... mother's intuition can go a long way. If I felt something was wrong, even if it didn't look like it was, I'd probably take DS to the doctor also.
They ped might think you're nutty but who cares. Your DD's health is more important Good luck!

Up until today she was eating. This morning she slept until almost 9 and has only had a few sips of water and a smoothie. Won't touch anything else. She did throw up once on monday and once the week before but both times were on long road trips so I chalked it up to that even though it's never happened before.

She's spent almost the last two hours laying on me or the couch moaning. I tried getting her to go out to the park thinking if we did something fun she'd snap out of it at least for a little while. She refused to get up to walk to the car and didn't care when I said forget it we'll call the doctor instead. Thankfully we're seeing a different ped than the one I saw the last time I brought her in over nothing! She was 4 months then and I definitely had a new mom freak out for no reason. Hopefully this is nothing but I'd rather be sure and it doesn't seem like nothing.

I never have but I definitely would if I thought something was off. I go with mothers intuition all the time. I truly believe in it.
Based on what you wrote there has got to be something wrong or brewing. You know your child and if you think something is off then you should 100% bring her in. Better safe than sorry IMO.
I hope she feels better soon

If you think she should be seen by the dr, then that's what you should do. The peds are there to reassure us, and it sounds like she isn't acting like herself. Better to have her checked out. Hope she feels better!

Re: Have you ever taken you child to the doctor just bc they weren't acting themselves?
to me it sounds like she might have a mild virus... so she's probably just run down. or maybe she could have an ear infection. DD had one without a fever and we didn't realize until we took her for something different. they don't always show a fever (or the one hour she did have it you didnt capture it on the thermometer) DD was recently "sick" and she didn't really show any symptoms other than being crabby, asking to be carried and not herself ... but I feel the doctors will just give you normal toddler moodiness, teething, virus answer. I would normally say yes mom intuition but we did that for 2 years straight and now we've learned that it usually doesnt lead to anything than them telling us to wait it out and see.

I know someone who took their 6 month old DS to the doctor just because he seemed off and they received a very serious diagnosis. I am sure your DD is fine, but I would trust your gut and bring her in just to be sure.

Re: Have you ever taken you child to the doctor just bc they weren't acting themselves?
Ive had conversations with my ped when I knew something was off. She usually chalked it up to them fighting off a virus and instructed me to let them rest and get plenty of fluids. They usually get better in a couple of days-a week and I've never had to bring them in. eta if i thought it was something more serious than that, i'd definitely bring her in, i wouldnt care what people think of me!

Yes. Dd seemed off but wasn't showing any sick signs. Poor kid had a double ear infection.

The laying around and moaning would have me concerned. There is nothing wrong with going in and getting her checked out. Follow your instinct.

Well I would describe that as lethargic and imo that's not nothing wrong.

Maybe a UTI, maybe nothing. She had a mild fever so I'll keep an eye on that, see if I can get a urine sample if she doesn't feel better in the next day or two. She keeps complaining about her belly and while she was squirming and complaining when the doctor checked it she didn't react to any one spot. Ped said if she starts to guard one particular area or totally refuse to walk/hunch over then we should take her to the ER for testing. She did perk up some after the appointment so hopefully it just blows over quickly.
