2 year old and drooling
Hello - Does anyone have any experience with a drooling toddler? My son is currently getting speech services and also drools a lot. I am told he has week muscles in his mouth. Some of the things the speech teacher tells me to do - (put a tongue depresser between his lips) are impossible to get him to do.
Anyone have any experience with this or have successful tips? We do use straw cups and bubbles.
TIA

My son was an excessive drooler. I used bibs until he as like 4! He had low tone in his mouth, but really speech never helped the drooling issue. Finally when he was 8 (and still drooling), it was discovered that he had enlarged tonsils. Once he had them taken out(along with adenoids), drooling stopped. The large tonsils really impacted his ability to swallow all the pooled up saliva . Peek in there with a flashlight and see if your son has huge ones!

Thanks so much. I will definitely check this out. That is the second time I have heard about the adenoids too.
