Football Sunday Menu

We are planning on having about 14 adults and I need to keep the menu somewhat easy/make ahead since DH is working crazy hours the week before and I have a DD that refuses to nap.

Apps
Chips and dip (spinach, buffalo, salsa)
Tomato and mozzarella
Maybe some frozen picky things from Costco

Main course
Pulled pork (crockpot)
Mac n cheese
Green salad
Burgers
Hot dogs

Dessert
Brownies
Cake
Maybe a fall type dip (pumpkin or peanut butter)

Thoughts? Enough variety for the mail course? Do I need something lighter?

Re: Football Sunday Menu

I would have wings that's a staple IMO for football Sunday or order a hero to make it easy

That seems like a variety and sounds good. I love the apps and desserts. I would eat all of those things. However, a hero or wings would go better with the pulled pork and mac and cheese and wouldn't a hero or wings be much easier than burgers and hot dogs? I'd eliminate the burgers and hot dogs altogether even if you don't want to replace it with wings and/or a hero. Just add a few more apps options and serve the rest of your planned main course.

Menu sounds good!

But I personally wouldn't do the tomato/mozzarella as an appetizer. And I don't think you need hot dogs AND hamburgers plus pulled pork. I'd probably do the hamburgers and the pulled pork (can use the same rolls for them) and scrap the hot dogs.

Instead of the tomato and mozz for appetizer, I would add a hearty appetizer like frozen pigs in blankets (if you are not doing the hot dogs for the main), or I would maybe do something like cocktail meatballs or wings/boneless wings. These are easy to eat and are always crowd pleasers.

I just think people enjoy a lot of appetizer/finger type foods during a game, and tomato/mozzarella -- while delicious -- is kind of a knife and fork type of thing (and not really a classic fall football food).

I'd definitely keep desserts simple... I think a lot of people will be full by then, so I think you'd be fine with just brownies and cookies. Or maybe brownies and an ice cream cake.

Re: Football Sunday Menu

If you're hung up on the tomato and mozzarella I would suggest doing them on tooth pics so people can just pop them into their mouths.
As for the food, I don't know if I would bother with a main course. I would just set everything up buffet style, including the pulled pork, and let everyone pick. I agree that hotdogs and hamburgers are more a PITA then they're worth- unless you have a tv outside. I agree with doing either a wedge or baked buffalo wings, or even boneless wings if it's easier.

Re: Football Sunday Menu

I'd skip the tomato and mozz app.
I'd add wings to the menu

One app that I recently did for football Sunday that was a HUGE hit and super easy was mini pizzas. Here's the recipe. They went in like 10 seconds and were delish!

Thank you all for your feedback. We will probably order up a few different types of wings and get a hero or just a bunch of cold cuts. I was worried about it all beg "heavy" types of food. But I always overthink this type of stuff.
