On to IVF

After 4 failed IUI's and a varicocele diagnosis I finally got my period yesterday (8 days late). Day 3 testing is tomorrow and then the IVF fun begins. I didn't think I'd be so overwhelmed with the amount of meds I'd be receiving but I have to say I am. Luckily my last two iui's were with the Gonal F pen so I'm not too worried about the injections part. I think my biggest fear is the egg retrieval and how i'll feel after.

Any advise or encouraging info is greatly appreciated :)

Best of luck. The best advise I can give you is to stay calm and take one day at a time. Before I started IVF I promised myself that my body needs to perform it's best which means, good eating, drinking plenty of water, as much sleep as possible and NO STRESS. I laughed at things at work vs. got upset...this was for my end goal of getting pregnant, nothing else. if you have questions, ask...don't be afraid to ask 2x to make sure you feel comfortable. Good luck! I am starting my first IVF cycle as well soon..just waiting to get AF. I never been excited to get AF so I can begin the process :)

On to IVF

Take it one day at a time...one shot and pill at a time. Don't look at it all in one swoop bc it could be overwhelming. It's really not as bad as it is in your head and you've already done the gonal f. As for retrieval, it's a quick procedure and you will sleep it off at home. The transfer, I took Valium the second time and it helped tremendously. The first transfer I was so nervous and tense...my body even tensed up which I'm sure didn't help. Best of luck.
